1 year agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler was a surprise recipient of praise from Raiders head coach Jon Gruden this week. Gruden told reporters that he wished Oakland had signed Ekeler because of his ability to come off the bench to relieve Melvin Gordon and make guys miss. Ekeler has been an outstanding change-of-pace back when Gordon needs a breather, and the combination of the two has led to one of the most dynamic backfields in the game. While Ekeler is clearly the backup each week, he's basically a sure thing to get some touches and make something interesting happen with those chances. He's either averaged 7+ YPC or scored a touchdown each week this season, and that streak shouldn't end this week against the run-prone Raiders.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
