Arthur Smith Could Stick Around Into 2024
12 months agoAtlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank referred to the 2023 season as "Year 3 of a three-year plan" when it came to head coach Arthur Smith, and Smith is now 20-28 in his three seasons at the helm in Atlanta. This was supposed to be the year the Falcons started to finally make progress, but they are in danger of another 7-10 finish or worse. Blank hasn't made any public statements about Smith's job status, and it's possible that Smith will get a fourth season in 2024, even if the team misses out on the playoffs. That scenario might be contingent on Smith convincing Blank that he has a plan to acquire a difference-making quarterback in the offseason. The Falcons currently have the No. 10 pick in next year's draft, which is likely too low to pick a marquee QB prospect like USC's Caleb Williams or North Carolina's Drake Maye.
