The Los Angeles Angels claimed right-hander Michael Petersen off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday and designated right-hander Kelvin Caceres for assignment in a corresponding move to make room on the 40-man roster. Petersen will be on his fourth team of the offseason after being passed around from the Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins and Blue Jays. The 30-year-old will operate as minor-league pitching depth for the Angels heading into spring training. The former 17th-round pick by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2015 out of Riverside City College made his major-league debut with the Dodgers and Marlins this past season and had a 5.95 ERA and 1.63 WHIP with 14 strikeouts and 11 walks in 19 2/3 relief innings. Petersen is most likely to begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Salt Lake.--Keith Hernandez
