Alexis Diaz 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: A 30+ Save Season Within Reach
3 weeks agoCincinnati Reds closer Alexis Diaz didn't get off to a great start last season and had a 5.47 ERA across his first 28 appearances. Diaz, though, was a much more consistent closer for the Reds over his final 32 appearances. From June 18 to September 28, the flame-throwing right-hander had a 2.70 ERA with 13 saves, and opposing hitters were batting just .187 against him at the plate. That helped him finish the 2024 campaign with a 3.99 ERA and 28 saves. Diaz's numbers were down across the board last season, as his strikeout rate (22.7%) and expected batting average against (.206) were the worst of his career. However, the 28-year-old could be a nice target in the later rounds of fantasy drafts this season. He started his throwing progression earlier in the offseason to ensure that another slow start doesn't occur, and it was just two years ago that he finished with 37 saves and an All-Star appearance. So, a 30-plus save season is definitely within reach for the Reds pitcher. RotoBaller has him ranked 153rd in rotisserie leagues and 233rd in points leagues in 2025.
