According to his agent Scott Boras, free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman, who won his first Gold Glove in 2024 at third base, is willing to move to second base, the position that he'd play if he signed with the Boston Red Sox. If Bregman were to re-sign with the Astros, he'd almost certainly stay at the hot corner, with Isaac Paredes moving to second base and All-Star Jose Altuve moving to left field. Bregman only has 32 innings of experience at the keystone, but he was a shortstop in college at LSU and has appeared in 257 games professionally at the 6, likely making the transition to second fairly seamless. Paredes, meanwhile, has played only 67 games at second compared to 335 games at third. Re-signing Bregman would lessen the offensive blow of trading Kyle Tucker to the Cubs this offseason, but it would also give the Astros questionable defense at second and in left field.--Keith Hernandez
