Aidan Hutchinson 2025 Outlook: Only Injury Can Hold Him Back
As the second-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the ceiling was always high for Aidan Hutchinson. Still, the pace he was on before breaking his tibia last year was blistering. Despite missing half of Week 6 with that injury, Hutchinson finished as DL1 overall in Standard Scoring points per game. He also finished atop PFF's pass rush grades and Pass Rush Win Rate. In fact, Hutchinson's 38% Pass Rush Win Rate was 15% higher than the next closest defender (Myles Garrett). While the sample size (five games) was small and the pace unsustainable, the former Wolverine was on track for a record-breaking 27 sacks before injury. Most reports indicate that Hutchinson's injury shouldn't impact his production long-term, and the exodus of former Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn shouldn't significantly affect the defender's production. New Defensive Coordinator Kelvin Sheppard has worked under Glenn for years and is expected to implement many of the same schemes. Given that continuity and the fact Hutchinson wins primarily on stunts and one-on-one matchups anyway, he should continue to put up high-end DL1 numbers in 2025, provided he is healthy.
