Adley Rutschman Scratched With Back Discomfort
4 months agoBaltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman (back) was scratched from Friday's lineup at Camden Yards against the division-rival Boston Red Sox due to lower-back discomfort, the team announced. With Rutschman a little beat up, catcher James McCann made the start behind the plate and is hitting in the nine-hole against Red Sox left-hander Brennan Bernardino. For now, fantasy managers will want to consider Rutschman as day-to-day and check back on Saturday to see if he's back in action. Losing the 26-year-old switch-hitting, All-Star catcher for any length of time would be a big blow to the Orioles and fantasy managers alike. Rutschman has continued to swing a hot bat in August, going 12-for-40 (.300) with three doubles, a triple and eight RBI in 12 games played. Check back later for a potential update on the severity of his back injury.
