Adam Thielen 2020 Outlook: Still A Dependable Fantasy Option
5 years agoMinnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen finds himself in a slightly different place in 2020 than he has in previous seasons. With Stefon Diggs now in Buffalo and the team relying on rookie Justin Jefferson and either Bisi Johnson or Tajae Sharpe to play big minutes, Thielen is the unquestioned No. 1 option for the Vikes now. A healthy Thielen should see a massive amount of targets, maybe even the 153 he received in 2018, and seems bound for his second 100-reception season. An injury-plagued 2019 saw Thielen play in 10 games, catching just 30 passes for 418 yards, though he turned six of those into touchdowns. If we assume he enters 2020 with a clean bill of health, we can just go ahead and scrap anything from last year in our projection for this upcoming season. Thielen should be a reliable fantasy WR2 due to his projected market share and his usually-high catch rate, and with him likely being drafted in the third round in most 12-team leagues, Thielen should be a valuable addition to any fantasy team. It’s worth the injury risk. It’s also worth the risk that increased defensive pressure on Thielen causes him to be less effective, because his overall volume should even out some of those worries. Trust Adam Thielen in 2020.
