Week 9 Wide Receiver Rankings Analysis

By AJ Guel (ajguel.com) (originally posted to Flickr as <a title=

Man what a great matchup for Kelvin Benjamin! Coming off an impressive showing vs Seattle the sky is the limit here. He's had just two bad games all year, he is definitely a must-start this week.

While many are worried about A.J. Green, if he plays I'm starting him with confidence. Steve Smith was so close to a great day last week with an 80 yard touchdown called back. I guarantee he is looking to put that behind him with a big day.

I'm slowly admitting defeat on T.Y. Hilton. I'm still afraid the inconsistency is going to pop back up but he has been fantastic. He and Luck seem unstoppable right now. I'm also probably crazy with Michael Floyd, but because the Arizona WRs rarely make sense, I have him at WR12. He won't put up another zero, that much I am sure of. The Panthers are the 5th worst team against WRs, as a result I have Cooks and Colston in the top 20. In a heavy bye week, both are startable.

Keenan Allen showed that he is still able to put up big numbers last week. Will it continue? Miami is a tough D but Allen looks like the same player he was last year. It should. I like Malcom Floyd a lot too, Rivers is playing at such a high level there is plenty of room for the two plus Gates. As I mentioned in my QB post I love Alex Smith. As a result I really like Dwayne Bowe. He's been solid in three of his last four games. Chiefs WRs have 0 touchdowns on the season, I say that changes this week.

A bit of a bold call on New England WRs. Expecting Denver CBs Aqib Talib and Chris Harris to cover Gronk/LaFell I like Edelman a lot more than his fellow WRs. Edelman has been really strange, the better Tom Brady plays the worse Edelman seems to do. He's actually had a few key drops the last few weeks. I think he's going to see a rebound here. With the Bucs defense taking further hits at the trade deadline, Andrew Hawkins should have no problem keeping up his great play.

I'm a big Donte Moncrief fan and he showcased his ability last week. With Reggie Wayne likely out again I think Moncrief has to be heavily involved again. I'm going to love this guy in 2015. On the other side of that game I expect shutdown CB Vontae Davis to play and cover Rueben Randle. Davis has been so good this year (he left last week's game early and it was a huge aid to Pittsburgh's day) there is no way Randle puts up big numbers in my opinion.

Colin Kaepernick has been really good when targeting Stevie Johnson. The only problem was that Stevie was not on the field much. Do not be surprised if that changes following the bye. Last note for the week - Percy Harvin was targeted 9 times last week and had 4 rushes. The Jets are using him the way he was meant to be used. It might not fall into place right away but I think he'll be relevant by the time the fantasy playoffs roll around.

Good luck in Week 9 RotoBallers!
