Week 9 Running Back Rankings Analysis

By AJ Guel (originally posted to Flickr as <a title=

A lot of the elite options this week have tough matchups. The only matchup I really like in my top six is Marshawn Lynch vs Oakland, but it's hard to put him in the top 3 with his lower production of late.

I love what I've seen from Ronnie Hillman lately. There is no reason he can't continue again this week, especially with the Pats focusing on the pass. I wrote about Ben Tate and my concern with the offensive line earlier in the week, but this matchup is too good. I hope I don't regret that one!

Giovani Bernard is a true questionable on the injury report. There is a real chance he misses this game. Either way I think the Jaguars are not the elite option they were at the start of the season. If Jeremy Hill starts he is a middling RB2 for me. Justin Forsett is also questionable this week. I hope he plays because it's a pretty good matchup. RBs are running for 4.5 YPC against the Steelers over the last three weeks. I'd rather have Lorenzo Taliaferro over Jeremy Hill if both backups were starting.

I'm really impressed with Mark Ingram this and I think he can be an RB1 going forward but even in an easy matchup here I'm a bit worried. He is on short rest coming off a career-high number of touches. People have left Frank Gore for dead but I think the bye week rest will do a lot of good for the old man. Not a great play, but not a bad one either. Andre Williams has been pretty bad as a starter and it looks like Rashad Jennings will need another week of rest. With several teams on bye Andre Williams still looks like a solid starting option.

I'm expecting Travaris Cadet to see a few more touches this week. He is a solid option in PPR leagues. I have no idea what to make of Jonas Gray week-to-week. The Broncos have been excellent against the run which makes this a much better matchup for Shane Vereen. I really like Buccaneers rookie Charles Sims but I'd prefer to keep him on the bench this week and see what his workload is. He could be a game-changer for the fantasy playoffs.

Good luck in Week 9 RotoBallers!
