Drew Brees makes his return to the #1 spot for the first time in several weeks. This may come as somewhat of a surprise, given that he only threw for 297 yards and a single touchdown in his first meeting with the Panthers a month ago.  He did score 17 points that day, on the strength of a rushing touchdown, but to expect that again would be a mistake. However, that was a particularly sloppy Thursday game on both sides of the ball, and both quarterbacks should be much better here. Expect big numbers from Brees.

The inconsistent Matthew Stafford comes in at QB7 this week. It’s hard to trust him 100%, but his worst games generally came against very good defenses (Packers, Cardinals, Patriots), while his best games have come against awful defenses (Giants, Jets, Falcons, Bears). Guess which category the Bucs fall into? Yeah, they’re pretty bad, though they have played better lately. I wouldn’t worry too much about Stafford.

A lot of people are worried about Tony Romo which actually surprises me a bit. Prior to the Philly game, he had been very consistent since Week 3 (discounting his half-game and missed game due to injury of course). He has a great matchup here, and I can’t really think of a reason why he’d disappoint. Remember, this is a full week of rest for Romo and Cutler, as they both played last Thursday.

At the end of last Sunday, Ben Roethlisberger had a lot of points, which was nice for his owners. Unfortunately, he didn’t play nearly as well as the final numbers would seem to indicate. He was terrible in the first half, during which the Steelers only scored six points. He thrived in garbage time, but ultimately I saw a quarterback that I would have trouble feeling good about this week.

I really want to like Mark Sanchez this week, but I can’t bring myself to do it. I feel like this game has 3+ turnovers written all over it. I have loved how Sanchez has played since becoming a starter, but the Seahawks are playing at an extremely high level on defense right now (after a rather average first half of the season). There is no chance I start Sanchez here. This is one where I’ll be happy if I’m wrong, but the smart money is on avoiding Sanchez (and all the Eagles, besides McCoy) entirely.

Lastly, I was really hoping for a Manziel start this week! He would be a major fantasy asset, but alas, Coach Mike Pettine has decided to stick with Brian Hoyer. Expect to see Hoyer on a short leash, and it’s possible Manziel could take the job for good if he has to come in again.

Good luck in Week 14 and the playoffs RotoBallers!
