NBA Rookie Fantasy Profile: Justin Jackson

Analysis: Jackson is a three-year starter at North Carolina that progressed in each of his seasons. He ended his career as the ACC Player of the Year, which was no easy feat with players like Luke Kennard and Dennis Smith Jr. also gaining votes. Ultimately, Jackson was drafted by the Sacramento Kings mid-way through the first round.

Jackson looked outstanding as a freshman, but returned for two more seasons after that, posting his best season as a junior and leader of the offense. During his junior campaign, Jackson averaged 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 32.0 minutes per game. He was slightly less efficient, shooting 51.0% from two-point range, but his three-point percentage and free throw percentage both increased to 37.0% and 74.8%, respectively.

Jackson is in an interesting position because he could immediately start for the Kings. He has some competition from players including Vince Carter and Bogdan Bogdanovic, but Jackson could certainly win the job. He looked ready during the Summer League, averaging 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Regardless of whether or not Jackson starts, he will be a big part of the Kings rotation this season.

Bottom Line: Jackson will contribute points. He could also contribute assists and rebounds if given the time. He is a high upside player because of his position on a rebuilding team.
