NASCAR Xfinity Series: DraftKings DFS Preview for Iowa HyVee Perks 250 (6/15/24)

NASCAR XFINITY SERIES STOCK DFS PICKS

Justin Carter's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for the NASCAR Xfinity Series HyVee Perks 250 at Iowa Speedway. Read his daily fantasy NASCAR advice and Xfinity sleepers.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series is back at Iowa Speedway for the first time since 2019. At one point, it seemed like NASCAR would never return to the short track in Newton, Iowa, but not only is the Xfinity Series at the speedway this weekend, the Cup Series is making its inaugural trip here as well. That race will be run on Sunday.

Last weekend, the Xfinity Series was in Sonoma, with Shane Van Gisbergen winning for the second weekend in a row. SVG has established himself quickly as the best road course racer in Xfinity, but he's not expected to be a contender at this oval track. Who will find themselves up front for this race?

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Xfinity Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Xfinity DFS lineup picks for the NASCAR Xfinity Series HyVee Perks 250 on DraftKings. Be sure to also check out our NASCAR Premium Tools for Xfinity Series, including our DFS Lineup Optimizer and powerful Research Station. This slate locks on 6/15/24 at 3:33 p.m. EDT.

Potential Top Plays

Jesse Love ($9.3K)

JessevLove was second-fastest in practice behind Corey Heim and comes in with plenty of recent experience here, running the last four races at this track in ARCA. He didn't win, but he led 55 laps in 2022 before a battery issue ended his day and he finished in third place in 2023.

Justin Allgaier ($11.0K)

When the NASCAR Xfinity Series was here in 2019, when the series ran a pair of races. Justin Allgaier had finishes of third and sixth that year. The year before, he won the first 2019 race here, leading 182 of 250 laps. That was one of three times that Allgaier has led at least 100 laps here.

John Hunter Nemechek ($10.8K)

This has been a really good track for John Hunter Nemechek. In four Xfinity Series starts at Iowa Speedway, Nemechek has three top 10s and a worst finish of 15th. Two of those were top-five finishes for Nemechek. He also has a win here in the Truck Series, plus led 53 laps in the 2016 truck race before finishing 12th.

Potential Mid-Tier Options

Sammy Smith ($8.5K)

This is a home race for Sammy Smith, as the driver of the No. 8 car for JR Motorsports is from the Des Moines suburb of Johnston. He's run a pair of ARCA races here, most recently in 2022 when he led 64 of 150 laps and finished second to Brandon Jones. Smith was fifth in practice.

Corey Heim ($8.0K)

Corey Heim turned the fastest lap of practice, logging the only lap with an average speed of over 139 miles per hour. In fact, only two drivers were even over 138 miles per hour. He had a pair of top 10s here in ARCA with an average finish of 5.0. His production in 2024 in Xfinity has been hit or miss, but he did finish fourth at Richmond.

Brett Moffitt ($9.0K)

We have another Iowan here, with Brett Moffitt set to run his first Xfinity Series race of the season for Joe Gibbs Racing. Of his 13 wins in the Craftsman Truck Series, two have come here, with Moffitt winning in 2018 and 2019, though the 2019 win comes with an asterisk since it came after Ross Chastain led 141 of 200 laps and crossed the line first before being disqualified.

Parker Kligerman ($7.5K)

We saw some good speed out of Parker Kligerman in practice, finishing in fourth place. His best finish here is eighth in 2012, with a pair of top 20s in 2013 at the track. He comes into this race with top-10 finishes in three of the last four races this season.

Potential Value Options

Ryan Ellis ($4.8K)

Ryan Ellis has finished with 20 or more DraftKings points in five of the past seven races. He's not a spectacular driver, but his poor qualifying runs usually lead to Ellis getting a few place differential points when he keeps the car clean. He was only 29th in practice, so we're probably looking at another start outside the top 25, giving him the PD upside we're looking for.

Brennan Poole ($5.8K)

Ellis's Alpha Prime Racing teammate Brennan Poole is in play as well this weekend. He struggled in practice like Ellis did, going just 32nd quickest, but Poole has 24 or more DraftKings points in eight of the past nine races, including scores of 48 DK points and 39 DK points the past two weekends.

Jeb Burton ($6.3K)

This will depend a lot on qualifying. Jeb Burton was fast in practice, but I won't feel confident playing him unless he qualifies outside the top 20. If he has a bad qualifying run and ends up something like 28th, I'll likely hammer this play. Take a wait-and-see approach here.

Matt DiBenedetto ($7.0K)

I'm just copying and pasting what I wrote above because the exact logic applies here as well. This will depend a lot on qualifying. Matt DiBenedetto was fast in practice, but I won't feel confident playing him unless he qualifies outside the top 20. If he has a bad qualifying run and ends up something like 28th, I'll likely hammer this play. Take a wait-and-see approach here.
