Top 150 Dynasty Prospect Rankings for Fantasy Baseball (September Updates)

Jackson Holliday - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Prospects

Benjamin's updated top 150 fantasy baseball prospects rankings (dynasty) as of September 1, 2023. MLB prospect rankings for fantasy baseball dynasty leagues.

Welcome back, RotoBallers, to the September update of our MLB team's dynasty fantasy baseball prospects rankings for the 2023 season. The 2023 MLB season is entering its final month. Many dynasty baseball players have begun to turn their attention to the 2024 season.

For those who are still playing through the end of the season, are there prospects that could be of interest? For those looking to jump into contention in 2024, who are the prospects to target that could help? For those ready to rebuild and willing to wait a year or two, who are the top guys to target? This list should at least attempt to help!

There are many prospect lists that evaluate prospects for "real life" baseball, meaning that factors like defense, gap power, and exceptional baserunning (though not great base stealing) skills would all be much more highly valued in such lists. Similarly, a pitcher who projects strongly as a future MLB starter will rank higher in those lists. This list is purely for dynasty fantasy baseball value, specifically examining players that can contribute in traditional 5x5 categories.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

MLB Prospect Rankings for Dynasty Leagues

These fantasy baseball prospect rankings are geared towards dynasty leagues, which are looking at longer-term impacts for fantasy baseball. Some of these prospects will make immediate impacts for the 2023 fantasy baseball season but that is not the goal of these rankings.

You can also see our fantasy baseball redraft prospect rankings for 2023 redraft leagues (non-dynasty).

This first list will be 150 players, expanding to 250 soon, so be on the lookout for that list to come out! Also, make sure to check out all of RotoBaller's dynasty baseball coverage!

Who's Hot, Who's Not

The 2023 MLB draft class added tremendous talent to the dynasty prospect pool, as seen with five of the top 20 prospects coming from the most recent draft, including three in the top eight. Add in 2023 international signing Ethan Salas, and you have six players in the top 20 prospects who were not even signed with a team to begin last offseason.

While Jackson Chourio held firm near the top of the list all season, the other members of the top three in the list have had exceptional 2023 seasons. Jackson Holliday arguably had the best first pro season of a prep draftee in the last 20 years. Junior Caminero built on a very strong winter league performance to jump all the way to No. 3 in the rankings.

A handful of top players before the 2023 season have seen their value drop, primarily due to injury. Andrew Painter was widely considered a top-five prospect in dynasty baseball before missing all of 2023 with an elbow injury. Cade Cavalli was set to spend the season in the Nationals' rotation, but he also missed the year with injury. Zac Veen struggled to a .209/.304/.308 slash line before he injured his wrist diving for a baseball and required surgery, dropping him from a top-50 player in the preseason to outside the top 100.

There are a number of players who would make sense to get a brief call-up this season that are listed with a 2024 ETA. That is simply due to the fact that those players have not been called up yet and teams have mostly called up the players that they likely will through the end of the year. It would not surprise if a handful of players on this list got a brief call-up in September.
