Jonnu Smith fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 (2024). Should you start or sit Jonnu Smith for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in Deep Tight End Premium Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: TE3
ANALYSIS: Coming into the 2024 season, Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith was expected to have a sizable role on offense. But that wasn't the case in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as Smith caught just one pass for seven yards in the contest. The 29-year-old also played just 28% of the team's offensive snaps, which was fewer than Durham Smythe's 42% snap share.
It was clear that Smith wasn't a big part of Miami's game plan in Week 1, and it remains to be seen if he will be moving forward. As a result, he is not a strong tight-end option in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills.
I have been trying to caution people against their runaway expectations for TE Jonnu Smith’s production and role in this offense.
In THIS offense he is still fighting a similar uphill battle for snaps as Mike Gesicki did.
He was almost exclusively used in obvious pass packages…

Even if you lost David Njoku (ankle) and possibly Jake Ferguson (knee) for the next few weeks, Smith is still a risky fantasy play in all formats this week. Fantasy managers should only start him in extremely deep tight end premium leagues in Week 2.
