BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Patriots are known for deploying a messy backfield, but due to multiple injuries this season their receiving corps has been pretty much on par with it. Edelman was the clear WR1 of the team until he wasn't (Week 3) and got then got injured (Week 7). All of Damiere Byrd, N'Keal Harry, and Jakobi Meyers have had their moments, but no one was very much ahead of each other at any point. Now, with Edelman and Harry out, it has been Meyers who have stepped up and raised his game.
As incredible as it sounds, it's been two weeks in a row in which Meyers has led all Patriots WRs in targets, receptions, yards, and fantasy points. He scored 10.2 PPR points back in Week 7, and has his best game of the year so far last weekend reaching 13.8 points. Meyers upside is absolutely dependant on his environment, and he's nothing more than a WR3/WR4 in this time--with everybody healthy. As long as New England keeps missing receivers, Meyers should be a nice play.
Meyers' 10 targets this past Sunday were the most seen by any Patriots' receiver since Byrd's 10 in Week 4, and Edelman/Harry 11/12 in Week 2. The Patriots aren't going to pass the ball a lot with Cam Newton manning the pocket, but the usage was encouraging in Week 8, and Meyers made the most of his opportunities.
Consider Meyers a "what-the-heck" play at your FLEX position with upside for a high-end WR3 finish if Newton goes pass-happy. The competition from other receivers in this offense is virtually nonexistent, so that won't cut Meyers' upside in the slightest of ways.
