Omarion Hampton - Fantasy Football Rankings, Rookie RB Draft Sleepers

Is Omarion Hampton out for the season? When is Omarion Hampton coming back? The latest Omarion Hampton injury update and fantasy football outlook heading into Week 14 of 2025.

Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton has been on the injured reserve since suffering an ankle injury back during their Week 5 loss to the Washington Commanders.

Even with his return-to-play window open for some time, the former first-round pick has yet to return to the field.

Will Hampton play again this season? Should fantasy managers continue to stash him on their bench? Let's dive in!

Is Omarion Hampton Out for the 2025 Season?

Even though his return window has been pushed back several times, the former UNC standout is not out for the season. In fact, there is a strong possibility Hampton returns to action in Week 14, when the Chargers face the Philadelphia Eagles.

Leading up to Week 13, Hampton saw his practice window open, which was the key first step in his return to play. During the week, Hampton was listed as a limited participant during each of their three sessions, suggesting he is quite near to his return. In addition, head coach Jim Harbaugh noted that it was a "good week" for Hampton and he remains "on track" for a return.

Managers should pay very close attention to his practice stats this week, as Hampton appears to be in a great position to return to action this coming weekend. While he was unable to play in Week 13, he seems to be in a good position to return in Week 14.

Omarion Hampton 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook

Given that Hampton made substantial progress last week, the rookie continues to hold high-end RB2 upside going forward, despite his continued absence from the field. When active, managers should expect Hampton to claim the lead role in the backfield quickly. Even though OC Greg Roman suggested that it could be a "1-2 punch" alongside Kimani Vidal, Hampton was deployed as the workhorse as soon as Najee Harris (Achilles) suffered his season-ending injury.

During the two games (Weeks 3 and 4) in which Hampton saw at least 55 offensive snaps, the rookie averaged an eye-catching 26.2 PPR points per game. During this two-game stretch, Hampton took 15.5 carries per game and was heavily involved in the passing game, seeing 6.0 targets per game.

He was also very efficient with his opportunities, posting a stellar 6.4 YPC over this stretch with an 8.7 YPR. While there is an outcome in which Hampton's workload is slightly lowered during his return, managers should expect him to be the team's bell-cow, especially during the fantasy playoffs.

Given his three-down role in a potent offense, Hampton should reclaim high-end RB2/low-end RB1 value as soon as he is activated off the IR. He is a must-start when active in all league types.
