Is Joe Mixon Out for the 2025 Season?
Earlier in October, the Texans provided a minor update on Mixon's status. The team's GM, Nick Casiero said that Mixon's status for the remainder of the campaign is "in limbo" and that the they have not fully determined his long-term status.
While this did not rule him out for the reminder of the campaign, it will make his path to returning very difficult. Seeing that the Texans have yet to provide a concrete date on when the veteran RB may return to practice suggests he still has a long recovery ahead of him.
Given his current trajectory, fantasy managers should not expect Mixon to hold much fantasy value for the remainder of the season.

Joe Mixon 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
Given his unknown timeline, mangers should only consider stashing Mixon in deeper 14+ team leagues that have IR spots. Currently, there are numerous IR-eligible players that hold not only higher short-term upside but project to provide more fantasy value during the remainder of the season.
For example, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) could return in the near future and may immediately see a large target share in an offense that lacks a true WR1. In addition, Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson (knee) should return to his RB1 role once off the IR later in the campaign.
In Houston, managers should expect Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks to continue to share backfield duties. While both running backs have flashed upside at times, they will likely continue to operate in a timeshare and carry high-end FLEX value in most matchups.
