Recent Fantasy Football FLEX News

Jerry Jeudy, Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is showing "improved chemistry" with quarterback Joe Flacco, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Jackson writes that Jeudy had his best practice of the summer last week when the Browns held a joint session with the Carolina Panthers.

The 26-year-old had his most productive NFL season in 2024, recording 90 catches for 1,209 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games for Cleveland. Jeudy took off once Jameis Winston replaced Deshaun Watson at quarterback for the Browns, and Flacco profiles similarly to Winston as a high-volume gunslinger at this point in his career. There's a chance that Flacco is replaced by one of the young quarterbacks in Cleveland at some point this season. However, until that happens, Jeudy is a good bet to outperform his early-seventh-round average draft position.

Travis Etienne Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. got a lot of run "from the jump" in the team's scrimmage on Thursday. Tank Bigsby and rookie Bhayshul Tuten had the second-most reps of RBs during the scrimmage, and Bigsby found the end zone. Etienne was also the team's lead back in the preseason opener on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, although he only carried the ball twice for six yards and caught one pas for a pickup of 10 yards. Bigsby and Tuten didn't see the field.

Etienne's usage so far suggests that he should be a big part of Jacksonville's offense in 2025, unless he's traded before the start of the season. The 26-year-old is still RotoBaller's highest-ranked (No. 33) Jaguars RB in fantasy, but Bigsby is at No. 38, and Tuten sits at No. 51. It could be a three-headed monster for Jacksonville, making Etienne an RB3/flex, at best, in PPR leagues if he's not traded.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Washington Commanders

Commanders running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt ran for 46 yards on 11 carries and added two receptions for no gain against the Bengals. Croskey-Merritt, more commonly known as "Bill", followed the hole that was beautifully created by the Washington offensive line and tight end John Bates before showing off his explosiveness in the open field to finish for a 27-yard touchdown. He was mostly stuffed on the rest of his carries as the game went on, and as Washington's reserve offensive lineman came into the game.

His stock is on the rise, however, with the recent news surrounding Brian Robinson Jr.'s future in Washington. The glowing reports coming out of training camp point to Croskey-Merritt having a sizable role in Washington's backfield this season. While Croskey-Merritt is the most dynamic runner on the team, veterans like Austin Ekeler, Chris Rodriguez, and possibly Jeremy McNichols are well-regarded with the coaching staff as well and will likely form a committee in the short term. Attached to Jayden Daniels and an offense that should score plenty of points, he is a great upside bet to make in your drafts.

Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen and quarterback Justin Herbert have "picked up right where they left off in 2023," according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Allen spent the 2024 season with the Chicago Bears, but he racked up 150 targets, 108 receptions, 1,243 yards, and seven touchdowns in just 13 games during the 2023 season with the Chargers.

The 33-year-old is at a different point in his career, and Los Angeles now runs a much less pass-happy offense under play-caller Greg Roman. Allen should not be expected to produce like he did two seasons ago, but he could still be a high-floor bye-week replacement in fantasy, particularly in PPR-scoring formats.

Colston Loveland, Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland caught two passes on two targets for 26 yards in Sunday’s 38-0 win against the Buffalo Bills. The 2025 first-round pick caught the game's first pass from quarterback Caleb Williams, as well as hauling in an 18-yard reception over the middle on 2nd-and-14. Despite Loveland's solid night, he only played four of nine snaps when the Bears ran one-tight end formations.

A tight end rotation is currently in the works with veteran tight end Cole Kmet, but expect Loveland's role to grow as the season progresses. With the crowded receiving corps and an uncertain role early in the season, Loveland should only be considered in the late rounds of fantasy drafts.
