FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/22/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

I'll be filling in for Justin on this full Tuesday main slate. Chris Sale is the top target at pitcher in cash games, priced $300 below Gerrit Cole and facing a strikeout prone Rays lineup. That will require some punt/low-priced bats to fill in lineups after, several of which will be highlighted in today's articles.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/22/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me up on Twitter @DanMarcus3.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Chris Sale- SP, @TB ($11,500)

Sale is the second-highest priced pitcher on the slate, and for good reason. While his strikeout rate is slightly below Cole's, but he has a strong matchup against the Rays. Their lineup features five regulars with a strikeout rate over 25% against LHP and he should have a strong chance at earning a win with the support of the Red Sox offense behind him.

Luke Weaver- SP, vs. KC ($6,400)

It’s unclear if Weaver has turned a corner after putting together two solid starts but it’s worth taking a chance on that possibility given his price tag and matchup on this slate. While the Royals are a difficult team to rack up strikeouts against, they rank in the bottom third of the league in ISO and wRC+ against RHP.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Freddie Freeman - 1B, @ PHI ($4,900)

Vince Velasquez has struggled mightily against LHB this season, surrendering 3.04 HR/9 and a .412 wOBA. That’s enough to make Freeman worth his rather high price tag and a cash game building block.

Dee Gordon - 2B, @OAK ($3,100)

Gordon has largely been a disappointment this season with a .330 OBP. However, he has run frequently when he has gotten on base as he has already racked up 16 steals. Cahill hasn’t been a pitcher to target in most cases this season, but one way he has been vulnerable is on the basepaths, already allowing six steals on nine attempts. As a result, it’s likely that if Gordon gets on base, he’ll be on the move and his price tag is very reasonable.

Travis Shaw - 3B, vs. ARI ($3,500)

The magic of Matt Koch has run out and what’s left is a homer prone pitcher who doesn’t miss bats. That makes Shaw, and just about every Brewer, a strong play tonight. Shaw is the choice thanks to his home park accentuating lefty power but Domingo Santana is at near punt pricing which makes him another intriguing option to consider.

Amed Rosario - SS, MIA ($2,400)

Rosario has been quiet and not much of a factor for fantasy purposes this season, but he has had success against LHP in his young career. Through 33 at-bats against them this season, he has recorded a .545 slugging percentage and he had similar success against them last season by slugging .514 in 37 at-bats. To fit both Sale and Freeman into lineups, punt plays will have to be in play and Rosario enters the picture as a result.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Austin Meadows - OF, @ CIN ($2,700)

Meadows has flashed both power and speed upside in his very young major league career. He will shift from a largely neutral home park for LHB to one that is a large positive for lefty power. Additionally, he’ll face Matt Harvey, who has allowed a .398 wOBA to LHB this season to go along 2.5 HR/9. While other lefties on the Pirates such as Corey Dickerson and Gregory Polanco are also worth considering, Meadows comes at nearly a 1K discount.

Tyler O’Neill - OF, vs. KC ($2,500)

O’Neill is on an incredible tear, homering in three straight games since getting a chance as a regular in the Cardinals lineup. While it isn't especially likely that streak extends to four games on Tuesday, his obvious power uspide remains underpriced at just $2,500. He’s likely about to take a huge jump in price, so take one more chance with him at a salary relief price tag.
