Recent Update

3/22:Domingo Santana, likely the Brewers' starting right fielder for the 2017 season, singled on the first pitch he saw from Giants' starting pitcher Matt Cain Wednesday driving in a run. Santana, who hit only .239 last season, should hit fourth in a unexpectedly potent Brewers offense. Hitting behind the likes of Jonathan Villar, Keon Broxton and Ryan Braun should give Santana opportunity to build off of his 19 home runs and 58 RBI from last season. With the Brewers' sparse outfield depth, Santana has a clear path to 600-plus plate appearances, and his current spring performance should inspire owners to take a late-round flier on him.--Mitchell Bannon - RotoBaller

Beat Writer Chatter

  • @Todd_Rosiak: Santana strikes out, but Villar singles in Broxton and it’s 6-4. One out for Thames.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Broxton reaches on an E6, Hernán Pérez walks against Seung Hwan Oh and suddenly the tying run is up in the form of Domingo Santana.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Brewers have the tying run at the plate with no outs in the 9th. Santana to pinch-hit, then to the top for Villar, Thames, Braun.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: A two-run Little League homer for Jedd Gyorko makes it 4-1 Cardinals in the ninth. It's a triple and an error charged to Domingo Santana.
  • @Haudricourt: Nieuwenhuis was primary backup in CF to Broxton, who opened in huge slump. Franklin, Perez, Thames, not really CF types. Perhaps Santana.
  • @Haudricourt: Gyorko leads off with double to right that Santana nearly hauled in with sliding catch in corner.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Santana loses a 13-pitch battle against Hector Rondon as he strikes out to open the eighth.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Santana lines out to RF, and Braun scores from third to make it 5-0. Then Shaw steals third base.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Now Shaw drills a double to left-center, Thames scores and it’s 4-0. Runners in scoring position, nobody out for Santana.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Domingo Santana follows by lining a shot off Anderson’s foot. Braun scores on the play to make it 2-0. Anderson is OK.
  • @Haudricourt: RT @philgrogers: Starling Marte is most significant #MLB player hit w/PED suspension since Dee Gordon. Before Gordon, Jenrry Mejia and Ervi…
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Domingo Santana also singles, but the Brewers settle for a 2-0 lead.
