FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers and Advice for 7/21/15

By Eric Fischer from Ames, Iowa, United States (Wacha Takes Over) [CC BY-SA 2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Kevin Luchansky analyzes some MLB DFS lineup picks & sleepers for 7/21/15 on FanDuel fantasy baseball daily leagues. His DFS advice and value picks help you win on FanDuel.

We've got a completely full slate on Tuesday, July 21st, which means there's much to discuss.

Editor's Note: If you play on FanDuel, you should also check out RotoBaller’s DFS Partner DraftKings - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's FREE to enter and pays out $120,000 in cash prizes!

Offenses to Target for FanDuel Stacking

I shouldn't have to tell you the Rockies and Rangers are good options tonight. Personally, I'm going to fade them due to price and ownership, but not only are both teams in Coors, they face-off against sub-par pitchers, too.

Astros RHB versus Brian Johnson
I'm going to pick on the Red Sox lefty with a few powerful right-handed bats from the Houston lineup. Their right-handed hitters are slugging .443 against southpaws this season, the sixth best mark in the majors.

Mariners versus Shane Greene
The Mariner bats are finally heating up and several have favorable price tags tonight when they face Shane Greene. Greene is averaging roughly 1.5 home runs per nine frames and he has a pretty ugly 4.87 FIP.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel Cash Games

Michael Wacha (SP, STL) - $8,500
Wacha at this price makes it feel like a tweener play - he's safe enough to play in cash games but I think he also possesses the upside and is cheap enough to roster in tournaments, too. Wacha is the owner of a 2.93 ERA, 3.06 FIP and 7.21 K/9 this season and takes on a White Sox club that has trouble producing runs against just about anyone their opponents trout out there. His strikeouts are down a notch this season, but his control has still been great and opponents are only hitting .228 against him.

I can't in good conscience not mention what a great option Jacob deGrom is, but I also can't recommend rostering someone at that cost unless I think they'll have a walk in the park. The Nationals offense hasn't been spectacular but I'd still feel some discomfort regardless. If you can get creative with a cheap stack in addition to rostering deGrom, it may worth the shot, though.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel Tournaments

There aren't many guys tonight with tournament type price tags that check a lot of boxes for me. That said, if I had to go with any, I'm going with someone that I think is going to be under-owned by many of my opponents and can produce 5+ strikeouts.

Kyle Gibson (SP, MIN) - $6,900
I'm terrified of rostering anyone against the Angels, seeing as they're putting runs up by the dozen, but that also should drive Gibson suitors away. He's been pretty great this season, owning a 2.85 ERA over 18 starts with a 16.7% K rate.

Honorable Mention: Odrisamer Despaigne (SP, SDP) - $5,300

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

As always, I’ll try to give you a few guys that I project to be some of the highest point accumulators and a few guys that I think have an opportunity to return a lot of value due to their low price/high ceiling combination.

John Jaso (C, TAM) - $2,800
Becuase the Rays lost their DH privileges in an NL park, he was on the bench Monday night when he had a favorable matchup. Hopefully that isn't the case tonight when he faces off against a rookie in a favorable ballpark. He's currently on a nice stretch, hitting .343 over the past two weeks, and he gets a lineup bump as well as he's notched a role as the leadoff man in Tampa.

Kyle Schwarber (C, CHC) - $2,500
An incredible value for a dangerous hitter slotted in the two-hole in the order and playing in a great park for left-handed sluggers. Unfortunately, the word is out about Schwarber, as he was over 36% owned on Monday night. Still, at that price point, he's real tough to pass on.

Anthony Rizzo (1B, CHC) - $3,800
He didn't put up the numbers last night that you'd hope when facing a mediocre righty in a hitter's park, but he gets a chance at redemption tonight in Cincinnati.

Chris Davis (1B, BAL) - $3,400
There are quite a few first basemen on the board tonight worthy of rostering, but I'm going to side with Davis due to the fact he's got nearly the same upside as Fielder and Rosario do in Coors but should be much less owned. At this price point, he also fits nicely into an Orioles left-handed hitter stack.

Robinson Cano (2B, SEA) - $3,200
The Robinson Cano of old has returned (for now, at least), and he's got a .605 slugging percentage over the past 14 days to prove it.

Kyle Seager (3B, SEA) - $2,800
Like his Mariner teammate Cano, Seager's bat is heating up, and he has a favorable matchup Tuesday night in Detroit. I wouldn't classify Comerica as a hitter's park, but it's certainly an upgrade from Seager's home diamond.

Jhonny Peralta (SS, STL) - $3,300
Rodon has some filthy pitches, but he's still young, making a lot of mistakes to veteran hitters. Peralta is always strong against southpaws. In the past two weeks, he's hit three home runs while slugging .568.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Michael Brantley (OF, CLE) - $3,600
Brantley has a real favorable price tag for buyers and comes in with four big positives across the board: favorable pitching matchup, good splits, a hot streak over the past few weeks and strong hitter park factors.

Adam Jones (OF, BAL) - $3,600
Jones doesn't have any strong splits I can throw at you, but I like his price, and the bump he gets facing a mediocre pitcher in a great park for sluggers gives him a lot of value.

Mitch Moreland (OF, TEX) - $4,200
I'm looking to fade Coors in the stacking department, as the prices are steep and the ownership will be incredibly high, but I'm definitely working Moreland into a lineup or three. He faces the ever terrible Kyle Kendrick.

Chris Young (OF, NYY) - $2,900
As a general rule of thumb, always work Chris Young into one of your lineups when he's facing left-handed pitching at Yankee Stadium. He's also owned Chen for his career with a .455 on-base percentage.
