FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/30/16): MLB DFS Advice

There are just a handful of these full-slate Tuesdays left in the 2016 regular season. It makes me a little sad, but rather than sulk, I'm going to embrace it and create a roster or 17. We've got a few upper-tier pitchers on the mound today, a Coors game and after that, a whole lot of uncertainty, so there's a lot to breakdown. As for players with the best positive park factors tonight we've got hitters from both sides of the plate for the Rockies and Dodgers at Coors, the left-handed batters of the Blue Jays and Orioles, and the left-handed batters of the Rangers and Mariners.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/30/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel. Let's get to it, shall we?

Editor's Note: Purchase a full season NFL Premium Pass (including Draft Kit + DFS Premium), and also get MLB Premium + DFS for free through October. Premium DFS lineup picks, expert lineups, tools and more - seven days a week. You can see screenshots of our NFL Premium and MLB Premium and DFS tools. What are you waiting for?

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

St. Louis Cardinals against Wily Peralta

The Cardinals are one of a handful of teams with a run projection over five runs tonight. St. Louis hitters not only get a park upgrade, but they face the likes of Wily Peralta, he who greatly struggles with hitters from both sides of the plate. For the season, he's allowed a .393 wOBA, .539 slugging percentage and 1.25 HR/9 to left-handed batters and a .402 wOBA, .553 slugging percentage and 1.77 HR/9 to right-handed batters. On top of that, hitters have really been squaring him up well over his last three starts, as he's allowed a 26% line drive rate. My favorite Cardinals this evening are Matt Carpenter, Brandon Moss, Jedd Gyorko, and Jeremy Hazelbaker.

Detroit Tigers right-handed batters against Anthony Ranaudo

The Tigers have the highest run projection of the day - yes, even higher than the Dodgers and Rockies at Coors Field - and a lot of that has to do with the Tigers' pop and Anthony Ranaudo's struggles. Detroit has a ton of power hitters that hit from the right side, which is ideal for stacking, as Ranaudo has greatly struggled with right-handed batters in 2016. It's somewhat of a small sample size, but Ranaudo has allowed a .402 wOBA, .593 slugging percentage and 3.68 HR/9 to righties this season. My favorite Tigers tonight are Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Justin Upton. Tyler Collins is a great, cheap lefty bat option as well.

Also Consider: Los Angeles Dodgers against Tyler Anderson

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Max Scherzer (SP, WAS) - $11,200

I'm riding the Mad Max train once again this week after he turned in a gem last Thursday night. Tonight, he faces an easier task than Thursday's opponent (Orioles) in Philadelphia against the lowly Phillies offense. This season, the Phillies rank 28th in team OPS against right-handed pitching at .694 and they've also struck out in nearly 25% of their at-bats, so the strikeout upside is there as well. Scherzer has exceeded his price implied value in eight of his last 10 starts and I expect that trend to continue tonight.

Julio Teheran (SP, ATL) - $7,800

I'm going to come right out and say it - this pick carries a lot of risk. It is most certainly only "suggested" for tournament formats. That said, Teheran is listed at a bargain price, he pitches in a good pitcher's park, and tonight, faces one of the worst offenses in all of baseball. The strikeout upside - which is key for GPP formats - is there in it's greatest form, as no team strikes out more against right-handed pitching this season than this San Diego lineup.

Cole Hamels (SP, TEX) - $10,300

If you're willing to pay up for five-digit pitching today, Hamels is a nice alternative to Scherzer. You not only save a few dollars, but if you're playing GPP formats, I have a strong feeling Hamels will be owned at a much lower percentage. Scherzer is the chalk, essentially. Hamels, on the other hand, has pitched beautifully in each of his past two starts and tonight, his 8.9 K/9 gets a little projection boost as the Mariners really struggle with left-handed pitching - they've struck out in roughly 29% of their at-bats against southpaws this season. On top of that, Hamels sports a low hard hit rate of just 26% over his last three starts.

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Catcher (C) - Victor Martinez (C, DET) - $3,600

I can't tell you to fade Gary Sanchez, because, well, just look at those numbers. He's a nice option tonight, but if you're looking for some variance in tournaments and need to save a few dollars, V-Mart is your man. He gets to face the lowly Anthony Ranaudo and Martinez's splits against right-handed pitching this season are strong - .359 wOBA and a .491 slugging percentage.

Also Consider: Gary Sanchez (C, NYY) - $4,000

First Base (1B) - Brandon Moss (1B, STL) - $3,700

Moss has been nothing short of an absolute beast against right-handed pitching this season. Tonight, he gets a park upgrade and faces a terrible right-hander in Wily Peralta. For the season, Moss owns a .406 wOBA and .338 ISO split against RHP.

Also Consider: David Ortiz (1B, BOS) - $4,200

Second Base (2B) - Logan Forsythe (2B, TAM) - $3,500

There are a handful of second base options I consider to be equally as strong, but their price points are much higher than Forsythe's. Tonight, Forsythe gets a big park upgrade and faces a pitcher who has struggled with the long ball this season. In 2016, Forsythe has been great against left-handed pitching, posting a .389 wOBA and .250 ISO split.

Also Consider: Matt Carpenter (2B, STL) - $4,300

Shortstop (SS) - Asdrubal Cabrera (SS, NYM) - $2,700

I'm paying up at a lot of positions tonight, so at shortstop I'm looking for production and upside on the cheap. Tonight, that comes in the form of Cabrera, who has been hitting the ball really well of late, posting a 51% hard-hit rate over the past two weeks. For the season, he's posted strong splits against right-handed pitching as well.

Also Consider: Francisco Lindor (SS, CLE) - $3,400

Third Base (3B) - Jedd Gyorko (3B, STL) - $3,200

Like Cabrera, Gyorko has been hitting the ball really hard lately. He possesses fantastic power upside and tonight he not only gets a park factor boost, but he faces a pitcher every major leaguer loves to pick on in Wily Peralta. In 2016, he has posted a .341 wOBA and a .271 ISO split.

Also Consider: Adrian Beltre (3B, TEX) - $3,200

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Jose Bautista (OF, TOR) - $3,800

Bautista has been swinging the stick really well since his return from the DL and he should do some damage tonight at the top of this potent Blue Jays order. He has a hard hit rate of 46% over the past 15 days to go with his season-long .376 wOBA and .248 ISO split.

Mike Trout (OF, LAA) - $4,400

Poor Tim Adleman is really outmatched in this one. I really like Trout to do some damage tonight. He has been on fire of late and Adleman is going to have a hard time taming his .432 wOBA and .274 ISO splits.

Trea Turner (OF, WAS) - $4,100

I feel like Turner's emergence has been overshadowed a bit by Gary Sanchez, and that's a shame, as what Turner is doing is nothing short of incredible for a rookie. Tonight, he has another great matchup in a good hitter's park. That and his .411 wOBA split bode really well.

Also Consider: Tyler Collins (OF, DET) - $2,200
