NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 3/23/24
Hopefully, everyone had a safe and festive St. Patrick’s Day, and that we have all recovered from by now. The 2023-2024 season is now in the final stretch as teams battle for home ice heading into the Stanley Cup playoffs!!! With multiple big trades this season and teams going all-in, the race for Lord Stanley is on!
Tonight we have a seven-game slate and one team playing on a back-to-back, the Columbus Blue Jackets. The currently live top-three highest implied team totals are Vegas with 4.3, Vancouver with 3.8, and New Jersey with 3.7. I will do my best to guide you through this seven-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks
Igor Shesterkin - DK $7.9K || FD $8.1K
Opponent - Florida Panthers
Kicking off the article at goalie, we have Igor Shesterkin of the New York Rangers. This game is attackable from either net tonight with most projections expecting a low-scoring affair, especially if Aleksander Barkov is out again. The Florida Panthers over their last ten games, excluding splits, are the second-best team in raw value from a Shots Per Goal Per 60 basis with Ottawa just edging them out. This is further cemented when assessing the former’s Per 60 stats over their last ten games, once again excluding splits. The visitors are in the top ten in Shots For Per 60 but reside in the bottom five in Goals For Per 60. An in-form Shesterkin at home is a recipe for success against a struggling Panthers squad.

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks
Jack Eichel - DK $8.2K || FD $9.2K
Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets
Jack is putting his team on his back…quite literally. The center has three goals, three assists, 27 shots, and six blocked shots in his last five games. That is 27 shots in FIVE games!! He is averaging the Shots Bonus on DraftKings while recording a point on average per game in this stretch. Based on this production, his salary should be much higher. One thing to understand though. Eichel’s linemates are not producing a quarter of what he is right now, making Eichel a strong one-off play, but stacking is a much bigger risk. In Per 60 stats, in the last ten games, excluding splits, the Blue Jackets are the fifth-worst in Scoring Chances Against, the fourth-worst in both Shots Against and High Danger Chances Against, and the ninth-worst in Goals Against.
Connor Bedard - DK $7.6K || FD $7.7K
Opponent - San Jose Sharks
The Anaheim Ducks stymied Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks in Anaheim on Thursday. Unfortunately, it was not as surprising as many would have thought. In Chicago’s last ten away games, they are being outscored five to 30. However, whether will Bedard be blanked in back-to-back games is the question. In 56 games played in his rookie season, Bedard has only been held off the score sheet in back-to-back games three times. THREE TIMES! The rookie is living up to his hype and he is due for a big performance against the league’s arguably worst defense. In the last ten games, excluding splits, San Jose is in the bottom ten in Shots Against Per 60 and they are the worst in Goals Against Per 60. Throughout Bedard’s most recent five appearances, he has two goals, six assists, 16 shots, and one blocked shot.

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks
Jack Hughes - DK $8.3K || FD $9.8K
Opponent - Ottawa Senators
The center/winger hybrid is back on the wing with linemate Erik Haula and new linemate Alexander Holtz, following a stint as the winger on the top line with Nico Hischier and Dawson Mercer. In the winger’s last five games, he has two goals, three assists, and 18 shots. The Ottawa Senators are hitting another wall, sitting in the bottom ten in Shots Against Per 60, Scoring Chances Against Per 60, and Goals Against Per 60, all in their last ten games, excluding splits. With Hughes the focal point of the second line, he is expected to register three shots and one point at a minimum.
Philipp Kurashev - DK $5.1K || FD $5.2K
Opponent - San Jose Sharks
Similar to teammate and linemate, Connor Bedard, Philipp Kurashev was on fire before the shutout, posting three goals, six assists, seven shots, and five blocked shots. Now he gets the perfect spot to have a big bounce back alongside Connor Bedard. For just over five thousand on DraftKings, Kurashev could become one of the top value plays on the slate.

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks
Daniil Miromanov - DK $4.4K || FD $4.1K
Opponent - Vancouver Canucks
Daniil Miromanov has not looked back since being traded from Vegas to Calgary. In his most recent five performances, he has two goals, 14 shots and 13 blocked shots. Those are elite-level peripherals for a defenseman that is not even four and a half thousand on DraftKings tonight. Considering this matchup should be high-paced, Miromanov is set up for success, manning the second pair and quarterbacking the top power-play unit.
Mattias Ekholm - DK $3.6K || FD $5.2K
Opponent - Toronto Maple Leafs
Mattias Ekholm is gaining form quick and to no surprise, after his pairing with Evan Bouchard was bumped to the first pairing, seeing increased ice-time with Connor McDavid. In the four games since, he has three goals, four assists, 13 shots, and eight blocked shots. Not only is he still producing peripherals on both ends of the ice, but his point-production has spiked immediately. In what could be the fastest-paced matchup of the slate, Ekholm will have every opportunity to rack up peripherals, especially seeing time against the Matthews line. For under four thousand dollars on DraftKings, with a high floor and moderately-high ceiling potential, Ekholm could become a ‘steal’ at the defenseman position.
