NHL DFS Picks for Saturday, January 23rd, 2016
Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks for Saturday night in the National Hockey League. Tonight there are nine games in the prime time slate on DraftKings with only eight on FanDuel(left out the PHI/NYI game). There are four teams (FLA, DET, NYI, COL) playing on back to back nights. The Ducks will have an extra day of rest as their game in Washington was pushed back and eventually postponed due to the snow storm on the east coast.
Let's take a look at a few core plays for tonight.
Cory Schneider - Goaltender, Devils (DraftKings - $8,200 FanDuel - $8,500)
Don't buy into the fact Vegas has the Devils as early underdogs on Saturday. This is a battle of two teams trending in opposite directions. The Devils have won three straight while the Jets have lost two straight. Schneider has been terrific on a team that doesn't score a lot of goals (Ranked 27th) and has gone 6-4 with a .940 save % and two shutouts in his last 10 games.
Patrice Bergeron - Center, Bruins (DraftKings - $7,500 FanDuel - $7,000)
When looking at the center landscape tonight you have Tavares(DK only) and Seguin who are not performing to their price tags. Go down to the top of the next tier and roster Bergeron tonight. He is extremely consistent and has only had two multi game pointless streaks. In the last 10 games he has provided a very high floor with 39 shots and has added seven points, seven blocks and a +5 rating. He is always safe in any format.
Max Pacioretty - Winger, Canadiens (DraftKings - $7,200 FanDuel - $8,200)
One of the few bright spots for the Habs lately has been the performance of Pacioretty. He has picked up nine points including three powerplay goals and 36 shots on goal in his last 10 games. No better matchup to get things turned around than a meeting with the Leafs. The Habs have taken both games this season and Patches has recorded three goals and an assist in those games.
Kyle Palmieri - Winger, Devils (DraftKings - $5,200 FanDuel - $4,900)
One of the top value plays on the night gets a matchup vs. the Jets who have lost two straight and rank 25th in goals allowed per game. Palmieri remains a very affordable salary relief option in play in any format tonight. He leads the team in goals(20) and sits 2nd in points(35) on the Devils and is coming off a two goal game vs. Ottawa on Thursday. If you are looking for a extremely low owned stack on Saturday combine Palmieri with Travis Zajac and Joseph Blandisi.
Victor Hedman - Defense, Lightning (DraftKings - $5,700 FanDuel - $6,400)
While he is the most expensive D option on FanDuel tonight, his salary on DraftKings ranks 9th making him a safe option in any format if you like paying up for at least one D man. In Hedman's last 10 games he has recorded nine points(two on PP), 31 shots on goal, 27 blocked shots and a +1 rating.
