NHL DFS Picks for Tuesday, January 19th, 2016
Welcome back for another night of daily fantasy hockey picks. Tonight we have eight games in the NHL with plenty of elite goaltending options. There is only one team (Edmonton Oilers) playing on back to back nights and they are also playing a third game in four nights. The Oilers offense can safely be avoided tonight. There are a few players who started the year ice cold who have picked it up lately and come in with very affordable salaries at this point.
Let's take a look at a few core plays for tonight.
Henrik Lundqvist - Goaltender, Rangers (DraftKings - $7,900 FanDuel - $9,100)
The King is starting to heat up again after an inconsistent stretch that seen him go .500 over the last couple weeks. He has picked up wins in two of his last three starts and posted a .950 save % in that time. The Rangers have been a much better team at home this year and get a matchup at MSG tonight vs the Vancouver Canucks who are 10-15 on the road this season.
Steven Stamkos - Center, Lightning (DraftKings - $7,500 FanDuel - $8,900)
He has really heated up lately and offers terrific value for a star player on Tuesday. He has recorded 10 points (four on the PP) in his last 10 games with 38 shots on goal. The Lightning have won five straight games and will look to make it six tonight as they push for the playoffs.
Jakub Voracek - Winger, Flyers (DraftKings - $6,000 FanDuel - $7,300)
Another player who started the season off ice cold who is starting to carry his team. Voracek has points in three straight games and has 10 points in his last 10 games. He has provided a high floor averaging over three shots on goal per game with a +3 rating. The Flyers get a plus matchup tonight at home vs. the Leafs who rank 23rd in goals allowed per game.
Brendan Gallagher - Winger, Canadiens (DraftKings - $6,100 FanDuel - $5,400)
After returning from a month absence he has picked up five points in his first seven games back with the Habs. He will need to provide a bit more going forward if the Habs are going to climb out of this slump they are in lately. He has been firing a ton of shots on goal (15 in last four games) and should start to benefit on the score sheet very soon. A matchup vs. the Bruins is exactly what the doctor ordered as he already has five points in three games vs. the Bruins this season.
Victor Hedman - Defense, Lightning (DraftKings - $5,600 FanDuel - $6,300)
A great option in any format tonight. First of all, he provides a high floor averaging close to three shots on goal per game and adds 2.5 blocks per game for the DraftKings bonus. He also has a ton of offensive upside and has recorded seven points in his last 10 games for the Lightning who are currently streaking with five straight wins.
