The ninth-overall selection by the Miami Marlins in the 2012 Amateur draft, Andrew Heaney had to fight to win a rotation spot with the Angels in 2015, and was able to string together a solid season, posting a 3.49 ERA in 18 starts. Heaney was touted in the minor leagues as a strikeout artist, as his K/9 rate approached 9.0 in four seasons, but the 24-year-old has been unable to hone that skill to this point in his major league career, notching just a 6.6 K/9 rate last year. There may be hope that this number can begin to rise, however, as he gained a full MPH on his fastball over the course of the campaign. At the moment, Heaney's greatest strength remains his impeccable control, as he walked just 28 batters in 105.2 innings. While there may be room for growth here, Heaney will enter the 2016 season as an end-of-draft flyer at best, but could see added value if he receives a full workload.
