The New Orleans Saints are on track to promote defensive coordinator Dennis Allen to their head coach position, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Allen would take the place of longtime head coach Sean Payton, who stepped down from his role last month. Allen has previous head coaching experience, having led the then-Oakland Raiders to a combined 8-28 mark beginning in 2012 before being fired during the '14 season. From there, New Orleans stepped in to hire Allen as a defensive assistant, and he has served as the team's defensive coordinator from '15 on. The Saints are set to be a team to monitor throughout free agency, as their quarterback position remains largely up in the air. Their defense should continue to be seen as a solid season-long option in any sized format.--Jesse BorekRead More News
