Giants Interested In Starling Marte?
Starling Marte is the San Francisco Giants, according to sources. Marte and the Marlins were unable to agree to a contract extension, so he's expected to be dealt at the deadline. Miami was willing to go as far as three years and $40 million for Marte, but he is seeking a four-year deal and told the team there would be no extension talks after the All-Star break. The 32-year-old would fill a gaping hole in center field in San Francisco, and the Giants have the prospect capital to get a deal done. Marte is unlikely to fetch a prospect like Heliot Ramos, since he'll be a free agent at the end of the year, but Ramos is a name to watch at the trade deadline as well. Marte has been slumping of late, but overall he's been excellent with a .290/.391/.449 slash line, seven home runs, 49 runs, 22 RBI and 19 stolen bases. A move to the Gigantes could give the outfielder a slight fantasy boost.
