DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (2/9/21): NBA DFS Lineups

donovan mitchell NBA DFS lineup picks daily fantasy basketball betting picks

The top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on February 9, 2021. Euan Leith provides NBA DFS analysis and sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Tuesday, RotoBallers! Tonight, the NBA schedule gives us a massive seven-game slate for the Tuesday contest. That is, by far, the most amount of games on a Tuesday this season. Kevin Durant will remain out for the Brooklyn Nets matchup with Detroit and make Kyrie Irving and James Harden popular in cash games. However, if you want to take down a tournament tonight, there are plenty of options in other high-scoring contests to pivot towards.

Currently, three games have an over/under on the right side of 230 points. The Nets and the Pistons (232.5 points), Golden State versus San Antonio (233 points), and Philadelphia against Sacramento (230.5 points) are all games that DFS players can run towards and fill up their lineups. They offer many ways to score a lot of fantasy points tonight, and players could easily fill their entire lineups from just those three contests.

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 2/9/21. You can also check out today's FanDuel lineup picks. With COVID-19 a significant factor, remember to monitor injury news as the slate can completely change before lineups lock.

DraftKings DFS Guards

Donovan Mitchell - PG/SG, UTA vs. BOS ($8,100)

Mike Conley (hamstring) will miss time, and it should be the runway that Mitchell needs to propel himself into DFS stardom against the Boston Celtics tonight. In the first game without his veteran backcourt mate, Spida tallied 27 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, one steal, and four three-pointers for 56.5 DraftKings fantasy points. The 11 assists and eight rebounds were both season-highs for the fourth-year guard, and Conley's absence will give him the chance to continue producing at this rate. Mitchell is one of my favorite tournament plays on tonight's slate because he faces a tough defense, and both teams are bottom-eight in pace this season. The Celtics defense will cause DFS managers to fade him on the larger-than-usual seven-game slate on Tuesday. There are certainly safer cash game options (Hello Kyrie Irving), but Utah's star is talented enough to overcome any difficult matchup in any game.

John Wall - PG, HOU at NO ($7,300)

Wall (rest) missed the first game of Houston's back-to-back last night versus the Charlotte Hornets, but that means he will be full systems go for tonight's matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans. The point guard is taking on an immense workload in the Houston offense since James Harden was traded to the Brooklyn Nets one month ago. Wall is averaging 19 points in those seven games, 6.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.4 triples. Those numbers add up to a healthy 34.75 DK fantasy points per game. The Rockets are playing at the fourth-fastest pace in the NBA this season, and that tempo will give the five-time All-Star plenty of chances to rack up the fantasy points against this Pelicans defense.

Kendrick Nunn - PG, MIA vs. NY ($5,600)

The New York Knicks play at the slowest pace in the league, averaging 97.6 possessions per game. Their slow pace made me consider fading this game entirely. However, Kendrick Nunn has a starting gig all to himself with Goran Dragic (ankle) on the shelf, and he offers some excellent value on the slate. In his previous two games, the sophomore guard averages 20.5 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and three triples for 33 DK fantasy points. The Knicks defense is league-average versus point guards this season, and Nunn has the ceiling with points and three-pointers to have a big night with this enhanced opportunity and minutes potential tonight.

DraftKings DFS Forwards

Harrison Barnes - SF/PF, SAC vs. PHI ($6,400)

Before a dismal four-point, 1-fo-7-shooting performance on Sunday, Barnes was having quite the statistical season. The ninth-year forward was scoring 17.1 points per game (his highest since his first season in Dallas) and recording career-highs with 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest. Sunday's lousy performance has seen his salary take a slight dip for tonight's game against the 76ers, and DFS managers should take advantage while they have the chance. Barnes has recorded at least 40 DK fantasy points in five of his last eight games, and tonight is set up for him to make it six of nine. The 76ers give up the fourth-most fantasy points to power forwards, and this game has the third-highest over/under at 230.5 points. With other positions having more top-heavy talent, sliding Barnes at any of the forward slots is a reliable use of a roster spot.

Bojan Bogdanovic - SF/PF, UTA vs. BOS ($6,100)

The shooter so nice they almost named him twice. Bogdanovic has turned the corner after a rough start to the 2020-21 season is sinking everything from behind the three-point line these days. Over his last six games, the 32-year old wing is averaging 24.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and a ridiculous 4.5 triples per contest. The man from Bosnia and Herzegovina is draining 42.1 percent of his three-pointers this season, but it's spiked to 55.1 percent over these last six matchups. Boston is the eighth-best three-point defense in the league (38.0 percent), but they also see the fifth-fewest three-point attempts per game (32.2). Bogdanovic is on a bit of a heater at the moment, and he is in the type of form that he can easily reach the 35.8 fantasy points he's averaging in his previous six contests.

Juan Toscano-Anderson - SF/PF, GS at SA ($5,000)

Toscano-Anderson has been a welcome value to the DFS world after Golden State suffered a myriad of injuries to their frontcourt. Kevon Looney (ankle) and James Wiseman (wrist) will continue to sit, which can only be good news for the 27-year old. In his last four games, the sophomore forward averages 32.3 minutes per contest, and he's producing useful fantasy numbers. JTA is tallying 10.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 made threes per game in his extended run of playing time and has hit five-times value in every game.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Jakob Poeltl - C, SA vs. GS ($6,000)

The Austrian big man is enjoying a highly-productive run in the Spurs starting lineup with LaMarcus Aldridge (hip) sidelined. Over the last three games, Poeltl is averaging 11.7 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and shooting 64 percent from the field. All those numbers produced at least 35 DK fantasy points in two of his previous three games. Tonight, he takes on a Warriors frontcourt decimated with injuries and ranks dead-last in rebounding this season. It gives the fifth-year center a fantastic opportunity for his third double-double of the campaign.
