The Miami Marlins agreed to terms with Florida State University left-handed pitcher Antonio Velez following the conclusion of the 2020 MLB draft last week. Due to the shortened draft this year, all 30 teams may sign an unlimited number of high school and college players who went undrafted for a maximum of $20,000 each. Director of amateur scouting D.J. Svihlik said that the team plans to sign as many as 10 free agents. Miami used all six of their picks last week on pitchers, so Velez adds to that total. Velez (6-foot-1, 212 pounds) was impressive this year before the season ended due to COVID-19, posting a 0.52 ERA and allowing just one earned run in 17 1/3 innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
