LCK & LPL DFS Picks for 4/22/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends Daily Fantasy

Dan Paylo's expert League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL and LCK slates on 4/22/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Hey there RotoBallers, and thanks again for joining me for some League of Legends DFS analysis. I'll be handling the Wednesday morning LPL/LCK playoff slate while @Mr_Malmanger gets a day off from the daily grind of covering the league he loves.

There are two more games on the docket tonight. We have Team WE and eStar squaring off in the LPL, while T1 and DRX do battle in the LCK. With the LCK and LPL playoffs in full swing and the EU Masters main stage starting, it's an excellent time for eSports DFS enthusiasts like myself. The DraftKings 10-dollar Playoff Special pays 50k to first place as we continue to see some massive contests for eSports.

Today, I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LPL/LCK playoffs slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 4:00 AM on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020. It's important to remember that these matches tonight are best of five games, not the best of three format that we saw during the regular season in the LCK and LPL.

LCK Semifinals

4:00 AM: T1 (-230) vs. DragonX

The LCK playoffs are set up so that the highest seeded teams have to win the fewest games in order to win the championship. As the #2 seed, T1 has been waiting for this game for almost a week, while DRX had to battle through a tough series with DWG in order to advance this far. The winner of this matchup will meet GenG in the finals. Both teams finished 14-4 this split, but T1 beat DRX in both head-to-head matchups 2-0 and 2-1.

Outside of one pretty fluky game in which DRX won kills 15-5 and towers 11-0, T1 had dominated the other four games this season to the tune of 60 kills to 20 and 36 towers to 14. While DRX has a talented team and excellent dragon control, I will side with the favorite here and go with T1 as my secondary stack to eStar tonight. They just wear teams down and are solid in every lane. They have the veteran leadership of mid-laner, Faker , as well as the best ADC in the league, Teddy, to lead this squad.

LCK games are notoriously slow compared to LPL games, so while these teams may not pile up as many kills as their LPL counterparts, the team slot for LCK teams can be one of the most valuable plays from their games.

Top T1 Plays:

  • Teddy - ADC ($7,600 DraftKings, $9,700 FanDuel)
  • Canna - TOP ($6,200 DraftKings, $8,100 FanDuel)
  • T1 TEAM SLOT ($5,000 DraftKings, $7,400 FanDuel)

LPL Round One

5:00 AM: eStar (-240) vs. Team WE

The first round of LPL playoffs should be an exciting one with a matchup here between two teams that play fast and loose. On the LPL-only slate, we also have the RNG-EDG game, but this eStar-WE game is the one that I am going to focus on here for the all-Wednesday slate. The winner of this matchup will face TES in round two and I expect that to the more talented eStar team here. ES dominated WE during the regular season, winning their head-to-head matchup 2-0 while piling up 50 kills to WE's 18.

Estar has a reputation for struggling with good teams but dismantling mediocre and bad teams. WE qualifies as a mediocre team in every way. Yes, they love to fight and can put up some big kill counts against bad teams, but they have struggled to beat good teams all spring. They are coming off two wins in a row, but eStar should be focused and ready to take care of business now that these games really mean something. Estar has the advantage in every lane with the only matchup that is fairly close being Morgan vs. XiaoBai in the top lane.

This eStar team can rack up huge kill counts and we've seen them do it against WE just recently. Team WE die over 20 times in losses, so there's no getting off the eStar chalk for me. I'll be lock and loading them in all formats on this slate. It's not time to get cute. If you think WE can pull off the upset, they'll likely need all five games to do it and they'd easily be the highest-scoring team on the slate so I don't hate them as a leverage play in GPPs. A game-stack here is a possibility but would require WE to push the series to five games and I'm not confident they can do that either.

Top eStar Plays:

  • Cryin - MID ($7,600 DraftKings, $10,000 FanDuel)
  • Wink - ADC ($8,000 DraftKings, $10,100 FanDuel)
  • ShiauC - SUP ($5,800 DraftKings, $7,800 FanDuel)

Summary

  1. It might be boring, but I like both favorites here. I think the better teams win out over the course of five games.
  2. The eStar-WE game has a lot more upside for kill numbers. You simply can't get away from eStar on this slate and WE is a deep GPP play with upside.
  3. The LCK game should be slower and has a much better chance of going four or five games. The team slot from these teams could prove very valuable as both teams are very objective focused.
