The Winnipeg Jets signed restricted free-agent forward Patrik Laine to a two-year, $13.5 million contract over the weekend, putting his average annual value at $6.75 million. Laine had the worst season of his career in 2018-2019, only scoring 30 goals after putting up 44 and 36 in his first two seasons, respectively. It looks like Laine will bet on his goal-scoring talent to help land a more lucrative contract when he becomes a free agent again before the 2021-2022 season. Laine started hot last season, scoring 21 goals during the first two months of the season, but he flamed out with only nine over his last 58 games. Say what you want about his work ethic and lack of competing, but Laine can score goals with ease and shouldn't be overlooked in a fantasy setting.--Nate Duffett
