FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (4/28/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Sunday is upon us which means two more Game 2's grace our presence. One takes place in the afternoon and the other in the evening. Can New York and Colorado tie up their respective series?

Remember, when picking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. How much can Columbus bounce back after the layoff which clearly affected them during Game 1?

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/28/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL vs SJS (FD - $8,900, DK - $7,300)

MacKinnon was inches from having a huge Game 1 which would have changed the complexion of that entire game. He assisted on a goal, had three shots, and three scoring chances. The center hit a post and nearly clipped the crossbar though. San Jose played with fire and did not get burned as the Colorado first line was close to scoring a few too many times for their comfort. Furthermore, San Jose gave up another goal on their penalty kill. Colorado needs to draw more penalties to not only gain momentum but score goals as well. Logan Couture is another center option with seven goals in his last seven games for San Jose.

Timo Meier - W, SJS vs COL  (FD - $6,300, DK - $5,700)

The winger almost had an even bigger night narrowly missing on two point-blank opportunities. Despite that, Meier wound up with nearly 20 FanDuel points anyway. He is also blocking shots and getting hits as well. He keeps producing points even if he scores an empty net goal. Points are points as they say. With Joe Pavelski still out, Meier gains a little more power-play as well as even strength ice time. This boosts his scoring chances per 60 and his prospects for a better matchup as far as line matching against Colorado's defense. Teuvo Teravainen or Anders Lee would make solid options as well.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Brent Burns - D, SJS vs COL (FD - $7,600, DK - $6,800)

Burns produced at value for two games then exploded in Game 1 for four points -- a goal and three assists. If that as not enough, he fired three shots on net, had four scoring chances, and blocked six shots in all. It was quite a tour de force performance for the much-maligned defenseman. He was one of the main reasons for the San Jose victory in Game 1. Honestly, he almost has to be a driving force for San Jose to win games in this series. Tyson Barrie and Ryan Pulock are decent alternatives on Sunday for daily fantasy.

Brett Pesce - D, CAR vs NYI (FD - $4,300, DK - $3,800)

Pesce is cheap enough that one can spend up elsewhere. He functions as a value defenseman basically on Sunday for DFS purposes. The defenseman also has a three-game point streak (four assists) and has a solid floor to fall back on especially at his price. The Islanders are likely to fire around 30-35 shots again which means ample chances to block shots for the blueliner. Pesce seems to get paired with the Jordan Staal line a good bit. That is not a bad thing considering how hot Staal has been so far in the playoffs.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Petr Mrazek - G, CAR vs NYI (FD - $8,100, DK - $7,200)

Mrazek proved on Friday that he can find a way to steal a win when he has zero business in doing so. The goalie posted a 30+ save shutout and made an array of dazzling saves to boot. He frustrated the Islanders and their fans with several close calls that were nearly goals. Yes, there was the "goaltender interference" goal, but overall Mrazek was on top of his game much like he has been for three straight contests. His price on DraftKings is an absolute steal. Philipp Grubauer is the other underpriced goaltender and expectations are there for a better performance by him on Sunday evening.
