If you invested a high draft pick on New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard, you’ve likely been pleased, but not overwhelmed, with the results he’s provided this season. Across 46 2/3 innings pitched, Syndergaard owns a 3.09 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with a 10.41 K/9; fantastic numbers for most pitchers, slightly disappointing for one of Thor’s caliber. As of late, fantasy owners have been a bit more concerned with his strikeout totals; Syndergaard has punched out only eight hitters across his last 12 innings pitched. On Saturday against the Phillies, we should likely expect an uptick in strikeouts. Philadelphia has struck out a total of 371 times this season, good for fourth in all of Major League Baseball. If Thor can’t get his strikeout tally up in this one, it would be mildly concerning.--John Smith
