Kansas City Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield is a throwback player. He’s the epitome of hustle, and that was on display Sunday when he stole three bases and manufactured a pair of runs to help Kansas City nail down a win against the Tigers. For example, in the first inning, Merrifield turned a deflected ground ball into a double, stole third and then scored on a shallow sacrifice fly by Mike Moustakas. Merrifield has been struggling a bit this season, hitting just .252 on the year, but he’s still got three homers and seven stolen bases so far. He should be a lock for at least 25 steals, and he’ll probably chip in 10 to 12 home runs along the way.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
