MLB Injury Updates for 4/21/16

Lonnie Chisenhall was activated from the disabled list Wednesday after recovering from a forearm injury. Collin Cowgill was optioned to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Chisenhall went 0-for-3 Wednesday against the Mariners, and could remain in the lineup against righties going forward.

Jayson Werth was removed from Wednesday's contest against the Marlins due to hamstring tightness. He will not play Thursday as part of a planned day off, but could return as early as Friday against the Twins. Chris Heisey could start for as long as Werth is sidelined.

Xander Bogaerts left Wednesday's game against the Rays due to tightness in his left quad muscle. The move was said to be precautionary, meaning he could return as soon as Thursday. Chris Young could slot into the lineup if Bogaerts needs to miss time.

Shelby Miller needed to be removed from his last start due to cuts on his fingers and knuckle, but he is expected to Saturday against the Giants. There is no word on who might be penciled in if he is unable to take the mound.

Danny Valencia had to be removed from Wednesday's contest against the Yankees and will not play Thursday because of a hamstring injury. He does not have a timetable for return. Chris Coghlan will likely start at third base in Valencia's absence.

Brett Gardner was scratched Wednesday against the A's because of a stiff neck. Aaron Hicks could start Thursday if Gardner is unable to suit up.

MLB Lineup Updates for 4/21/16

UPDATE: Rougned Odor will get the day off against lefty Dallas Dallas Keuchel. Hanser Alberto will start in his absence. Rya Rua draws into the lineup over Mitch Moreland. No injuries have been reported.

Jeff Francoeur will likely start against lefty Clayton Kershaw, sending Kelly Johnson to the bench.

Steve Pearce, Brandon Guyer, Curt Casali and Tim Beckham are all candidates to draw into the lineup when opposing starter David Price takes the hill.

Rich Hill will get the start for Oakland, which could allow Ronnie Torreyes to grab a start over Didi Gregorious.

Weather Updates for 4/21/16
