DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice - NBA DFS Lineup Picks for 1/23/16

By Keith Allison [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Justin Bales highlights the top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for 1/23/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your DraftKings NBA DFS lineups.

The NBA really needs to do something about their injury report policy. I understand a player being doubtful and still playing, but Dwyane Wade was ruled out last night before warming up and playing just before the game started. Making a stricter injury report would help DFS players tremendously.

In this article, I will be providing you with daily fantasy NBA lineup picks for DraftKings on 1/23/16. The DFS picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays.

Without wasting anymore time, let's get down to it!

DraftKings DFS Point Guards

Damian Lillard (vs LAL, $9,200)

Lillard has really been struggling recently, as he’s only averaging 20.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game over the last 10 days. Those struggles have caused his price to drop, and he’s has a great price tag for the top point guard tonight. He also get a great matchup against the Lakers, who have struggled against the point guard this season, and Lillard has dominated them twice already.

He’s also a significantly better player at home, which is where the game will be played tonight. People may avoid Lillard because of his recent struggles, but everything is working in his favor, and he can be used in all leagues tonight.

Dennis Schroder (at PHO, $4,900)

Teague and Schroder are splitting minutes in Atlanta, and Schroder is cheaper, which is why he gets the write up. This game could also be a quick blowout, and the Hawks will likely give Schroder more minutes if that’s the case.

He’s been playing well over the last 10 days, as he’s averaging 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.0 steal in only 21.2 minutes per game. He gets a great matchup against an injured Phoenix team, who are the worst defense in the NBA against point guards. Schroder hasn’t been playing enough minutes to be used in cash games, but he’s a good GPP option.

DraftKings DFS Shooting Guards

Tyreke Evans (vs MIL, $7,700)

Evans is going to be one of the beneficiaries of the Eric Gordon injury, which can be seen in his last game, in which he scored 22 points with four rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals. Evans is locked into 30+ minutes per night, and he’s a guy that can fill the stat sheet in multiple categories.

He gets a decent matchup against the Bucks, who haven’t been playing defense all that well this season, and Evans will continue to lead the New Orleans offense. He has a great combination of consistency and upside, and he can be used in all leagues.

Devin Booker (vs ATL, $5,000)

Booker is going to play big minutes for the Suns, regardless of the score, as they are dealing with a plethora of injuries and he’s a huge part of their future. He’s a pure scorer, but he is also athletic enough to add a few peripheral stats each night.

He has taken 16 shots in each of his last two games, and he has combined to make a total of 8 three pointers in those games. He has plenty of upside, but he will also be consistent because of his guaranteed minutes. He can be used in all leagues tonight.

DraftKings DFS Small Forwards

LeBron James (vs CHI, $9,700)

LeBron James hasn’t been playing all that well over the last 10 days, but he is coming off a huge game against the Clippers. He has flashed tremendous upside, as he has the ability to triple double on any given night, and he gets a great matchup against a weak Chicago defense tonight.

The Bulls have been one of the worst defenses in the NBA against the small forward, and they don’t have anyone that can guard James. Earlier in the season, he dominated them for 25 points, 10 rebounds, 5assists, and 1 steal, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he does that again tonight. He can be used in all leagues.

Omri Casspi (vs IND, $6,000)

Casspi’s value depends a bit on Rudy Gay, who is currently listed as questionable. If he’s out, Casspi can be used in all leagues, but he’ll be best suited for GPPs if Gay is able to suit up.

In his last game, which Gay was unable to play, Casspi scored 13 points with five rebounds, two assists, and five steals for 33.25 fantasy points. He gets a great matchup against the Pacers, who have been pushing the tempo to their games, but you’ll have to wait on a decision on Gay to find out how to use Casspi tonight.

DraftKings DFS Power Forwards

DeMarcus Cousins (vs IND, $10,700)

Boogie is on a roll right now, and there’s no stopping him. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 29.4 points, 14.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game. He get a great matchup against the Pacers, who he dominated for 51.5 fantasy points earlier this season.

Cousins plays big minutes every night, and he touches the ball nearly every possession. This game should be played at a fairly fast pace, and Cousins can be used in all leagues tonight.

Paul Millsap (at PHO, $8,400)

Millsap is another player who has been on fire recently, as he’s filling the stat sheet in each of the five categories. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.8 steals in only 30.1 minutes per game. Millsap generally plays minutes in the mid- to high-30s in close games, although I’m not sure this game is going to stay close throughout.

With that being said, Millsap is the leader of the Hawks, and he has been hitting value even when they blow teams out. Phoenix has been an awful defensive team this season, and Millsap can be used in all leagues tonight.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Willie Cauley-Stein (vs IND, $4,300)

There are a few great elite options tonight, which means you’re going to have to find a few value players, and WCS fits the bill. He recently returned from injury, which is why his price is so low, but he has played 29 and 30 minutes in his last two games, and he’s averaging 12.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.0 block, and 2.0 steals per game over that span.

It looks like the Kings are going to be giving their rookie minutes, and he’s a guy that should be priced around $6,500 when given full minutes. He can be used in all leagues tonight.
