FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice - NBA DFS Lineup Picks for 1/20/16

By Keith Allison [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Kevin Luchansky highlights the top NBA DFS lineup picks for 1/20/16, as well as a couple of sleepers to keep in mind while building your roster on FanDuel.

The 11-game Wednesday slate begins at 7:00 EST, with Sixers at Magic and Heat at Wizards kicking things off tonight. As of this writing, Vegas is projecting quite a few games to be relatively high scoring, which, by my definition, applies to any game with an over/under at 205 or higher. The most attractive games of the bunch are Warriors at Bulls (215.5) and Kings at Lakers (215), but Pistons at Rockets (206), Hornets at Thunder (207.5) and Hawks at Trailblazers (208.5) aren't too shabby either. Of the 22 teams in action, only the Heat, Timberwolves, and Thunder on on the wrong end of a back-to-back.

In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for FanDuel for 1/20/16. The picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays.

Let's get to it, shall we?

FanDuel DFS Point Guards

Damian Lillard (vs ATL, $8,800)

Despite exceeding value in 6 of his last 10 games, Lillard has an extremely appealing pricetag this evening, a pricetag that has dropped $600 in total since the start of the month . Any time you can find a guy of Lillard's skill priced under 9K, the matchup is worth investigating, and it just so happens that Lillard is in a good spot tonight against the Hawks. Atlanta has been about average against opposing point guards in terms of fantasy point production, but what appeals most about this game is that it is one Vegas is projecting to be close and high scoring, with the spread of 2 and an over/under of 208.5. Lillard has shot better than 50% from the field in four of his last five games and he's averaging over six assists in that same span. Of all the point guards available tonight, only Westbrook and Curry have a higher usage rate, and Lillard's price leaves a lot more flexibility for roster construction.

Value Play: Jordan Clarkson (vs SAC, $5,900)

Also Consider: Ish Smith (at ORL, $7,200)

FanDuel DFS Shooting Guards

James Harden (vs DET, $9,300)

The drop in salary is warranted, but in the last 10 days, we've seen Harden's salary go from $10,500 all the way down to $9,300. That's quite a bargain. He has been a disappointment lately in terms of fantasy production, but the opportunity is always there for The Beard, and that's what I'm paying for tonight. Of all the shooting guards lacing up Wednesday, only Wade is even in the same arena as Harden in terms of usage rate, and Harden rarely ever plays less than 35 minutes a night. (See what I mean with regard to opportunity?) Detroit isn't the most ideal matchup because the pace in which they operate is about average in the NBA, but they also don't defend the two-guard position very well, either.

Also Consider: Lou Williams (vs SAC, $5,800)

Value Play: Kyle Korver (at POR, $3,800)

FanDuel DFS Small Forwards

Tobias Harris (at PHI, $5,600)

"There are actually a lot of decent, serviceable options at small forward tonight" - a thought I had earlier. It's a thought I don't think I've had before. With guys like Lebron, Durant and Carmelo playing tonight, there's quite a bit of starpower, so that thought may not be surprising. However, the small forwards that caught my eye are the middle-of-the-pack guys (salary-wise), that have favorable matchups and high ceilings Wednesday night. My favorites of the bunch are Harris and Morris. As for Harris, the wing has seen his salary drop $800 over the past 10 days but he's exceeded his price implied value in three of his last four games. At this price, he's a bargain, and he has a strong matchup tonight against a Sixers team that gives up more fantasy points than the average against opposing small forwards.

Tournament Option: Marcus Morris (at HOU, $5,200)

Also Consider: Omri Casspi (at LAL, $5,500)

FanDuel DFS Power Forwards

Dirk Nowitzki (vs MIN, $7,100)

A rested Dirk is a strong Dirk, and that's what we have on our hands tonight. Nowitzki has exceed his price implied value in seven of his last 10 games, by an impressive average of 3.11 points over. The big veteran has an outstanding matchup tonight against the Timberwolves, as they've allowed the second most points to opposing power forwards of any team playing tonight and they don't have anyone on their roster that stick on him defensively, save for Andrew Wiggins, who will likely draw Chandler Parsons.

Value Play: Aaron Gordon (vs PHI, $4,200)

FanDuel DFS Centers

Jonas Valanciunas (vs BOS, $6,100)

Relatively speaking, Valanciunas has been somewhat of a monster lately, totaling 33 fantasy points or more in three of his last five games, despite never eclipsing 30 minutes in those contests. He's exceeded his price implied value in eight of his last 1o games, by an impressive margin of 5.29 points. What perhaps is most impressive is that he's become a better defender, namely in his rim protection, as he's averaged two blocks per game over his last seven. Against a team that will likely be keyed-in on stopping DeRozan and Lowry - and one that gives up quite a few points over the average to opposing centers - I like Jonas' chances of putting together a nice line. The fast paced Celtics offense should give him ample block and rebound opportunities, as well.

Tournament Option: Hassan Whiteside (at WAS, $7,800)
