Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Cleveland Indians vs. Matt Barnes

25-year-old right hander Matt Barnes has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to make tonight’s start against the Indians. DFS players would be wise to take advantage of this, as Barnes has been shelled in 22 major league innings this season. While his splits are too small a sample size to determine a preference for using LHB or RHB, Cleveland has several enticing options in their lineup tonight. Carlos Santana has 1B/3B eligibility and is priced at $4,200, catcher Yan Gomes costs $3,600), and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall’s salary is $3,200. With a team wRC+ of 98, look for the Indians to jump all over Barnes Monday night.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Danny Salazar (SP, CLE) - $10,800

Salazar enters Monday’s game against Boston having allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. His success should translate against the 52-65 Red Sox. While Boston’s .319 wOBA gives reason for pause, DFS players have every reason to expect a victory from Monday’s outing. With just a 1.06 WHIP on the road this year, expect Salazar to earn his lofty price tag.

Matt Garza (SP, MIL) - $6,100

Garza may be an adventurous pick Monday night, but his recent outings tell the story. Five consecutive starts surrendering three runs or fewer, all while lowering his season WHIP from 1.55 to 1.44. At $6,100 Garza will be one of the more inexpensive pitchers available on the DraftKings slate, albeit one with a very good chance of victory. Milwaukee is facing the scuffling Florida Marlins, who have managed just an 85 wRC+ on the season.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Francisco Cervelli (C, PIT) - $3,600

Cervelli, having a breakout 2015 campaign, should provide excellent DFS value Monday night against the Diamondbacks. Hitting .333 over his past 39 AB, Cervelli brings a modest $3,600 price tag into Monday night’s game. With better splits at home than the road this season (.377 wOBA at home) and coming off a rest day, Cervelli will be a reliable play against Arizona.

Justin Bour (1B, MIA) - $3,000

I love the power-hitting Bour’s value against the Brewers, especially with his bat coming to life as of late (.921 OPS over his last 16 AB). Bour has never faced opposing pitcher Matt Garza or played at Miller Park, but brings an above-average 110 wRC+ into Monday’s game. With a right-hander on the mound, Bour is all but certain to bat in the heart of Miami’s lineup and provide bang for the buck in DraftKings.

Jose Altuve (2B, HOU) - $5,000

Altuve’s second-half resurgence has been well documented, resulting in an elevated $5,000 price tag. The productivity DFS players will receive from the second baseman makes him well worth the salary, however. Altuve brings both a .326 wOBA into Monday’s game against the Rays, as well as good lifetime numbers against opposing starter Erasmo Ramirez- batting .300 in 11 PA. Look for Altuve to anchor your DFS slate on Monday.

Pedro Alvarez (3B, PIT) - $3,600

All signs point to Alvarez’s $3,600 salary being a bargain Monday night. Alvarez, priced below fourteen other third basemen on DraftKings, has mashed a 1.435 OPS over his last 23 AB. With a .327 wOBA on the season, look for Alrez to ride his hot streak Monday night against Jeremy Hellickson and the Diamondbacks.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Gregory Polanco (OF, PIT) - $4,300

Polanco is yet another hot bat in Pittsburgh’s thriving offense, hitting .386 over his past 57 AB. A diverse DFS option, Polanco will provide not only runs and hits but stolen base potential (20 SB on the season). With a .317 wOBA and two hits in three AB against Jeremy Hellickson, Polanco will be a reliable play Monday night.

Stephen Piscotty (OF, STL) - $3,200

Piscotty’s DraftKings value remains at an affordable $3,200 despite hitting .327 over his past 52 AB. The 24-year-old outfielder has become a cog in St. Louis’ order, hitting his first major league home run Sunday against the Marlins. Bringing an elevated .366 wOBA into Monday, look for Piscotty to stay hot against Chris Heston and the Giants.

Marcell Ozuna (OF, MIA) - $2,900

Ozuna’s value lies heavily in his price tag. Having (allegedly) been sent to Triple-A New Orleans to delay his arbitration clock, he returns to the majors with a diminished $2,900 price tag. DFS players should take advantage, as Ozuna’s career .314 wOBA suggests he’s a better player than his company in the bargain bin. With hits in each of his career PA against Matt Garza, look for Ozuna to redeem himself Monday against the Brewers.
