MLB DFS Lineup Picks and Sleepers – DraftKings Advice for 5/27/15

Below are my MLB DFS lineup picks for Wednesday May 27th, 2015. Always remember to check the MLB starting lineups, to see who is starting and sitting today, before finalizing your DraftKings lineup!

My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try and identify MLB players who will outperform their expectations today, based on their matchups and DraftKings prices. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be value pick sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value for your DFS lineups. Let’s get to it.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $50,000 in cash prizes, including 5K to 1st place! Sign up Now and we'll give you free access to RotoBaller's Premium DFS Lineup Picks and Tools (a $29.99 value). You'll also receive a 100% bonus on your first deposit.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Max Scherzer - $11,100

Clearly Scherzer isn’t cheap. But he has been arguably the best pitcher in the NL of this season. Even if Wrigley Field turns into a wind tunnel by first pitch, Scherzer should remain as a top option. He owns a 28.5% K rate and the Cubs lead all teams with a 25.5% K rate against RHP.

Chris Archer - $9,200

Much like Scherzer, Archer’s matchup is predicated on the idea that he will get a boatload of strikeouts. Seattle possesses the seventh-highest K rate against RHP while Archer owns the highest (29.1% K rate) amongst all starters for Wednesday’s slate. Sadly, Archer squares off against King Felix and will have his hands full attempting to get win and subsequent four points.

Noah Syndergaard - $7,600

It’s a little surprising that Syndergaard’s budget has remained somewhat stagnant. He has a favorable matchup against the Phillies and his peripherals aren’t too shabby. Philadelphia typically does not strike out in bunches against righties, but Syndergaard shouldn’t give up too many baserunners. He makes for a great second starter on Wednesday.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Russell Martin (TOR) – C - $4,000

Martin is coming off a day of rest and will be facing a starter in Jeff Samardzija that is getting hit hard to the tune of a 26.3% LD rate. The Blue Jays catcher leads all team starters in LD rate against RHP.

Michael McKenry (COL) C - $3,200

If, and that is a big if, the backup gets the start in the early game today, he is a strong candidate to exploit some cheap power and grab a flukey homerun in the small confines of The Great American Ballpark. More on McKenry later.

Joey Votto (CIN) – 1B - $4,700

Colorado starter Kyle Kendrick already has a tough time getting any batter out. It seems it gets tougher against the Reds’ first baseman. Votto has torched Kendrick with a .455 AVG for his career. As an added bonus, if McKenry is the starting catcher for the Rockies, Votto could get a nice bonus of a stolen base for his owners.

Prince Fielder (TEX) – 1B - $4,500

No one is swinging a hotter bat right now than Fielder and his price tag is absurdly low for how he is playing. He has had some success against Indians’ starter Carlos Carrasco. Fielder makes for a top option on the day.

Delino DeShields (TEX) – 2B - $3,200

Somehow the speedy leadoff man for a suddenly potent Rangers lineup is incredibly cheap. DeShields won’t give his owners any homeruns. Instead, he’ll give the satisfactory combination of getting on base, swiping a few bags, and scoring. There’s always room in the lineup for that kind of cheap productivity.

Jung Ho-Kang (PIT) – SS - $3,800

Kang owns a .605 wOBA versus LHP at home, good enough for a ridiculous 295 wRC+. It doesn’t matter if that sample size is just eight games, this guy clearly likes facing lefties.

Zack Cozart (CIN) – SS - $3,500

Cincinnati will have no problem putting up runs at home against Kendrick and (fingers crossed) stealing a few bags off McKenry. Cozart is another top stolen base candidate should McKenry be starting.

Todd Frazier (CIN) – 3B - $4,800

He has eight homeruns in 20 games at home. That’s good enough for a 32.0% HR/FB rate. ‘Nuff said.

Matt Carpenter (STL) – 3B - $4,600

Carpenter has been raking lately with a .420 wOBA and has been raking for his career against RHP with a .371 wOBA. It also doesn’t hurt that he will be facing Josh Collmenter and his .300 BAA.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Andrew McCutchen (PIT) - $5,400

Expensive? Oh yeah. But with a .592 wOBA, Cutch leads all outfielders in the past week with at least 20 plate appearances. And he gets a lefty that serves up softballs.

Ryan Braun (MIL) - $5,000

Milwaukee faces Ryan Vogelsong and all of his 7.43 road ERA and .415 road wOBA. Stacking against Vogelsong just may be a sound strategy.

Brandon Barnes (COL) - $3,300

Barnes is a nice cheap option in a game that should feature some runs. He has also been seeing that ball well over the last week with a .487 wOBA.

Scott Van Slyke (LAD) - $3,300

Clearly there’s no reason to reiterate how imperative it is to change the pregame lineups, as the Los Angeles outfield is pretty full. Van Slyke has historically crushed lefties and he will be facing off against one- should he play- Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

Will Venable (SD) - $3,200

Venable is amongst the cheapest options available in the later games and has a 116 (favorable) matchup rating against Garrett Richards according to our Hitter Streamers & DFS Matchups Tool.
