Sidney Crosby Joins Team Canada for World Championship
Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby will play for Team Canada at the 2026 World Championship. This will be only the fourth time Crosby will participate in the tournament, but he will be part of Canada's squad for a second consecutive year. In 2025, Crosby racked up 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in eight games, but couldn't help his team get past the quarterfinals. The Penguins captain suffered further heartbreak with Canada at this year's Olympic Games. Crosby couldn't finish the tournament due to a lower-body injury, and the Canadians lost the gold medal game to Team USA. Canada added Crosby to the World Championship roster after New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal (undisclosed) dropped out of the squad due to a minor injury.
