Dynasty Wide Receiver Buy Candidate

Michael Wilson, Arizona Cardinals

Back in 2023, the Arizona Cardinals took a chance on a young receiver out of Stanford with the 94th overall selection in the third round. Back then, Michael Wilson went viral, telling anyone who would listen that the Cardinals got the  “Steal of the Draft.” Until recently, Wilson hadn’t really backed that statement up.

With Marvin Harrison Jr. sidelined, Jacoby Brissett has maximized Wilson's opportunities. From Week 11 through 15, Wilson led all fantasy receivers with 23.1 points per game. He topped 16 points in four of five games, with two games above 33 points, showcasing a sharp improvement in both target share and high-ceiling performance during Brissett's run as quarterback. Wilson’s production has been directly tied to Brissett, who has finished as a top-12 fantasy quarterback in nine straight contests heading into Week 16.

Now, in those five previous contests before Week 16, Brissett has peppered his targets. Trey McBride is second in the NFL over that period with 52 targets, while Wilson, once again, leads the way with an astonishing 67. For those keeping track at home, that averages out to 13.4 targets per game.

Wilson's jump in production is closely tied to his high-volume role. He converted 67 targets into 44 receptions for 535 yards during the stretch—demonstrating growth in both reliability and efficiency. His 50.8% air yard share and 803 total air yards show untapped upside if he can improve on his catch conversion rate.

When a receiver is being targeted as heavily as Wilson has been and then being as productive as he has been, we are talking 11.84 yards per target, 16.44 yards per reception, and 4.97 yards per route run, you are going to climb the fantasy charts in a hurry.

Dynasty Wide Receiver Sell Candidates

DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers

By now, we know that the Steelers specialize in killing the value of their receivers in fantasy football. Metcalf is no exception. While he was seen as on the cusp of a great season due to the team acquiring quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the offseason and there being little target competition, he's been anything but that.

Instead, we've seen him plagued by his typical issues -- a lack of strength at the catch point and struggles in separation running traditional routes. He's a massive receiver who has little to no ability to make contested catches or fight for passes. The other problem is the offense. Pittsburgh's offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith, isn't going anywhere. He's singularly in love with running the ball as much as possible, meaning passing volume isn't this team's strong suit.

From Week 9 through Week 16, backup running back Kenneth Gainwell had more catches than Metcalf. That's not a typo. Metcalf is also likely to stay with the team for quite some time, and things could get even worse if they draft or trade for another good receiver. There isn't a huge benefit to having Metcalf on a dynasty roster compared to what you could get for him. He occasionally has a big game, as he's still a great athlete, but he's not very likely to lift any team to a championship.

Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (foot) was ruled out for the Week 18 regular-season finale this Sunday against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams. Harrison suffered a new foot injury in the Week 17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and failed to catch his only target before leaving. It's a fitting way for the 23-year-old's disappointing second season in the NFL to end in 2025. Through his first two seasons in the league, Harrison has not lived up to his lofty billing as the fourth overall pick out of Ohio State.

In 12 games this season, he caught 41 of his 73 targets for 608 yards and four touchdowns after posting a 62-885-8 line in 17 games in his rookie campaign. With Michael Wilson and Trey McBride flashing in a big way this season, Harrison's long-term outlook is cloudy.
