Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 9:
Devin Singletary, RB, Giants
New York Giants running back Devin Singletary is expected to see an increased workload following the season-ending ankle injury to Cam Skattebo. Through eight games, Singletary has logged 28 carries for 84 yards and added 28 receiving yards on three catches. With Skattebo sidelined, both Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Singletary should see expanded roles in the offense.
Tracy projects as the primary back, as he averaged 13.5 carries per game last season compared to Singletary's 8.9. Still, with how well the Giants' offense has operated under Jaxson Dart, both players could hold fantasy appeal. Singletary is worth a look in deeper leagues as a handcuff to Tracy, who has already battled injuries this season.
Luke McCaffrey, WR, Commanders
Washington Commanders wide receiver Luke McCaffrey hasn't had a massive role on offense this season, but he has made a handful of big plays. The second-year wideout has recorded 11 receptions for 203 yards and three touchdowns on 15 targets this season. With Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) out, McCaffrey should have some more opportunities for targets on Sunday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks.
Plus, he should benefit from having quarterback Jayden Daniels back as the starter. The 24-year-old has only two games with a route share above 50% this season, so he will need to be efficient on the limited targets he receives. McCaffrey's route share could tick up in Week 9, but he's likely to remain in a reduced role and will need to hit on a few big plays to deliver fantasy value.
Chimere Dike, WR, Titans
Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Chimere Dike has popped on fantasy managers' radars after producing over 16 fantasy points in back-to-back weekends. The 23-year-old vaulted himself into the top-15 receivers in last week's loss against the Colts, catching seven of eight targets for 93 yards. Dike has continued to earn a larger percentage of snaps the previous three weeks, and has maximized his opportunity, earning 12 targets and hauling in 11 of them.
The emerging star receiver will be tested in Week 9 in a tough matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers have allowed the seventh fewest passing yards and the eighth fewest yards per reception (10.4). Dike has produced over 13 yards per reception over his last two performances. Dike is a viable flex option (RotoBaller's WR43) in deeper leagues in Week 9 and has an opportunity to cement himself as the No. 1 option in the Titans' passing attack.
Michael Carter, RB, Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Michael Carter has "been the first RB working with the starters both days this week," according to Theo Mackie of azcentral.com. Arizona re-signed Carter to a practice squad contract earlier this week after releasing him on Monday in a procedural move. With presumed RB1 Trey Benson (knee) sidelined for at least one more week due to a knee injury, Carter and Bam Knight should see the team's carries in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Emari Demercado (ankle) could factor into the backfield mix as well. In Arizona's final two games before its Week 8 bye, Knight earned 29 touches compared to 20 for Carter. Still, it appears Carter will remain a part of Arizona's offensive game plan. He profiles as a low-end flex option for fantasy managers in a favorable Week 9 matchup against Dallas.
