New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom signed a two-year contract extension worth $12 million on Friday. This season marks the final year of his previous six-year, $36 million deal, which means he will maintain a $6 million salary cap hit. Markstrom was traded to the Devils by the Calgary Flames last year and quickly found success with his new team, finishing the regular season with a record of 26-16-6. In the 2025-26, the Swedish netminder has had a challenging start, posting a goals-against average of 5.13 and a save percentage of .830 with a 2-2-0 record. Markstrom missed a couple of weeks due to a lower-body injury, and his numbers should improve significantly once he finds his footing.--Taavi Pailk
