Pittsburgh Penguins forward Rickard Rakell (hand) has been ruled out for 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery. Rakell injured his left hand on Saturday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets and immediately underwent a procedure to get it fixed. Mid-December is probably the earliest Rakell can return to game action. It's an unfortunate setback for the Swedish forward after he had a good start to the campaign. In nine outings, Rakell has produced three goals and five assists. With him sidelined, the Penguins recalled Ville Koivunen from the minors on Sunday. While Koivunen was quiet in his first couple of NHL outings this season, he has crushed it in the minors with 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in six contests.--Taavi Pailk
