Week 6 Fantasy Football News and Outlooks

Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller should be rostered in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 6. The rookie has seen his workload steadily increase, logging back-to-back games with double-digit carries and totaling 119 yards and a touchdown over that span. Starting running back Alvin Kamara suffered an ankle injury during Wednesday's practice, putting his status for the Week 6 matchup against the New England Patriots in question. Even if Kamara suits up, his workload could be limited, giving Miller a strong chance to see meaningful touches once again.

Beyond the short-term upside, Miller offers long-term appeal as well. Trade rumors have begun to swirl around Kamara, with reports suggesting the Saints could move him to a contending team before the deadline. If that happens, Miller would immediately step into a featured role. With both injury uncertainty and potential trade movement ahead, Miller should be added in all formats before his price skyrockets.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quad/hip) appears unlikely to suit up in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears. The veteran wideout has missed the past two games with a lingering quad injury and did not practice on Wednesday, putting his status in serious doubt. McLaurin signed a new contract before the season but has struggled to find his rhythm, a trend that has been common among receivers coming off holdouts or limited offseason participation.

Through three games, he's caught 10 of 17 targets for 149 yards and has yet to score a touchdown. In McLaurin's absence, free-agent addition Deebo Samuel Sr. has emerged as the Commanders' top receiving option. Fantasy managers should monitor practice reports on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to determine if McLaurin has any chance to return this week.

Cam Skattebo, New York Giants

According to a new story by Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the New York Giants view running back Cam Skattebo as both their top option for the present and the future. The rookie from Arizona State has received the lion's share of work with Tyrone Tracy Jr. (shoulder) out for the past couple of weeks, but the team apparently views Skattebo as its preferred option for the near term.

Fantasy managers have seen a nice return on investment in Skattebo, especially in PPR formats, in which his 14 catches over the past three games have paired nicely with 198 rushing yards and a touchdown. The split between the two backs will be worth watching, but it seems like Skattebo will carry the upper hand.

Tyquan Thornton, Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton could be in line for at least another week of additional opportunity in Week 6 after going for a season-high in yards in Monday night's loss to Jacksonville. The 25-year-old played 45% of the Chiefs' snaps and turned five targets into three catches for 90 yards, which could lead to some additional work as a downfield threat as K.C. aims to survive one more week without receiver Rashee Rice (suspension). The team still considers Rice to be its top target, but Thornton is part of the piecemeal effort to replace him, giving him some waiver appeal in an enticing matchup against Detroit in Week 6.

Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten (shoulder) was limited in practice on Wednesday, according to the team. After being limited in practice all last week, Tuten begins the Week 6 practice week with the same tag. He played in Monday night's win over the Chiefs, handling four rushes for only six yards and catching his lone target for five yards.

The team may be keeping the rookie fresh during the week with the shoulder issue. Tuten will remain the primary backup to Travis Etienne Jr. for the time being and ranks as a low-end flex play for Week 6, assuming he is good to go.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (leg) was absent during Wednesday's practice session. Godwin made his season debut in Week 4 and already picked up a new injury. The 29-year-old is reportedly dealing with a fibula issue, which sounds like an injury that could sideline him in Week 6. It's only Wednesday, so fantasy managers shouldn't jump to conclusions yet.

However, fantasy managers should monitor the injury report on Thursday and Friday. Fellow wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) remained out of practice on Wednesday. If they both sit, Emeka Egbuka and Sterling Shepard would be the top wideouts for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (hamstring) was unable to practice on Wednesday. This doesn't come as shocking news, as Evans continues to work his way back from a hamstring strain he suffered in Week 3. Head coach Todd Bowles said Evans is making progress, but didn't give much information on a possible timetable for Evans.

There is a chance that Evans will practice this week and play against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. However, fantasy managers should prepare for Evans to likely miss at least one more game. Fellow wide receiver Chris Godwin (leg) also missed Wednesday's practice session. If both wideouts are out, Emeka Egbuka and Sterling Shepard would be the top options in the receiving game.

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (hip, thumb) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Tagovailoa apparently suffered a hip and left thumb injury during last Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. The 27-year-old didn't show any signs of being injured when he threw for 256 yards with three touchdowns. He's finally starting to turn a page with five touchdowns and zero interceptions over his last two games.

Fantasy managers shouldn't be too worried about Tagovailoa for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers. It's the beginning of the week, and the Dolphins are going to be careful, especially with Tagovailoa's injury history. At the moment, fantasy managers should fully expect Tagovailoa out there for Week 6.
