Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 6:
Sam Darnold, QB, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold completed 28 of 34 pass attempts for 341 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception during Sunday's Week 5 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was not sacked in the contest. Darnold essentially played mistake-free football for the first 59 minutes, keeping the underdog Seahawks in the game until the very end.
Along the way, he turned in one of the week's best fantasy performances, which was a refreshing development since he hadn't exceeded 21 fantasy points in a single game through the first four weeks. Unfortunately for Darnold and the Seahawks, the veteran quarterback threw an interception with 58 seconds left, setting up a game-winning field goal for Tampa Bay.
Seattle lost, but Darnold proved that he can perform against an above-average defense. He'll rank as a mid-range QB2 for Week 6 against Jacksonville.
Daniel Jones, QB, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones continued his hot start to the season in a 40-6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5. Jones completed 20 of his 29 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns in the blowout victory.
The veteran quarterback's performance has been one of the best stories of the season as he now has thrown for 1,290 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions while adding three more rushing touchdowns.
Jones will now prepare to host an Arizona Cardinals defense that has been tough on opposing passers this year. That being said, Jones has been consistent enough to trust as a low-end QB1 heading into Week 6.
Jordan Love, QB, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love had an awesome game for fantasy managers who started him in Week 4 against Dallas, tossing three touchdown passes to wide receiver Romeo Doubs and piling up 337 passing yards. Love finished as QB6 in Week 4, his first weekly finish as a top-ten quarterback since Week 6 of last season.
It was also Love's first game with over 40 passing attempts since Week 4 of 2024. Passing volume isn't a regular thing for the Packers; it's an anomaly. The Packers would rather play tough defense and run the ball to set up the pass than the opposite. Another excellent matchup looms as the Cincinnati Bengals head into Lambeau Field to take on the Packers in Week 6.
Love is a fringe starting quarterback for fantasy managers, but history has shown us that the game he had in Week 4 is more the exception rather than the rule.
Justin Fields, QB, New York Jets
New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields completed 32 of 46 pass attempts for 283 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He took five sacks but also rushed for 26 yards. Although the Jets are 0-5 this season, Fields has been quite productive from a fantasy perspective.
In the three games where he has been fully healthy, Fields is averaging 28.2 fantasy points. He has seven total touchdowns and zero interceptions this year, though he also has two lost fumbles to his name.
We've known about his rushing ability for quite some time, but we're also starting to see flashes of what he can do throwing the football -- even if it comes in garbage time. The Ohio State product is a mid-to-low fantasy QB1 for Week 6 against a strong Denver Broncos defense.
Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has gotten off to an outstanding start to the season despite missing most of training camp with a back issue. He leads the NFL with 1,503 passing yards on the year and is second with 11 passing touchdowns.
He has thrown multiple touchdowns in each of his last four games after lighting up the San Francisco 49ers for 389 yards and three touchdowns last Thursday. Stafford only has two interceptions on the year as well, and he has led the Rams to a 3-2 record with close losses to the Niners and Eagles. This week, he'll visit the Ravens, whose defense has been shreddable this season, by just about every position, but especially opposing quarterbacks.
Stafford has been thriving with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams each playing at a high level, and he'll look to bounce back from last week's tough loss with a big game in Baltimore on Sunday.
