Edmonton Oilers winger Vasily Podkolzin (personal) has left the team to return to Russia following his father's unexpected death. It's unclear when Podkolzin will rejoin the Oilers, but they are understandably unlikely to rush him back. Podkolzin signed a three-year contract extension earlier this week. He has skated alongside Leon Draisaitl during training camp and could be poised for a breakout campaign if the two develop chemistry that lasts for a prolonged time. Last season, Podkolzin recorded 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) and a team-high 211 hits in 82 games,--Taavi Pailk
