Week 3 Tight End Rankings Outlooks
Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson has been one of the biggest fantasy surprises to start the season, ranking as the No. 2 tight end in PPR scoring through the first two weeks. He has totaled 13 receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown on 20 targets from quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Johnson could see another busy day against the Seahawks, who have allowed 108 yards and two touchdowns to tight ends through their first two games. He is ranked as the No. 7 tight end on RotoBaller and remains a strong TE1 option.
Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz has scored in both games to open the 2025 season and should again be in line for a solid day in Week 3 against the Raiders. The 34-year-old continues to serve as a reliable target over the middle for Jayden Daniels, who is set to miss Week 3's game. Marcus Mariota will be the starter, and he had a positive connection with Ertz during his short time playing last season.
He was second on the team in targets with five against the Panthers, where Mariota played nearly the whole game. He finished with four catches for 40 yards and a touchdown.
Then, in the second half of Week 18's game against Dallas, Ertz caught all three targets for 27 yards and another touchdown. Mariota has familiarity with the system and has started many games, so he should help keep things afloat for the Washington offense. Ertz can be trusted as a low-end TE1 option for Week 3.
Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has been one of the team's few bright spots on offense through two games this season. The rookie has caught 12 passes for 111 yards thus far, outproducing veteran tight end David Njoku, who has just seven grabs for 77 scoreless yards.
Fannin has a chance to stay hot at home against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 as Green Bay is allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends through two games this year. Fannin still has to share tight-end looks with Njoku, which caps his upside, but he still checks in as a high-end TE2 for fantasy this weekend.
T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings
Faced with another solid opportunity for production, Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson is a low-end TE1 candidate against the Cincinnati Bengals, though fantasy managers could certainly be forgiven for being leery about his potential following two straight duds.
The veteran tight end is facing a plus matchup for tight ends against the Bengals' defense, but is also coming into the game with four catches, 27 total yards, and zero red-zone targets in two games.
Most concerning, the Vikings will be without starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy (ankle) and could be starting three offensive linemen -- from left tackle to center -- with a combined two NFL starts. It's clear the Vikings are going to have to be more creative offensively in the following weeks, however, and that should mean more involvement for Hockenson.
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft (knee) is expected to play in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The third-year tight end had quite the scare this week, sustaining the injury during practice on Thursday and missing practice Friday, but appears to have dodged anything serious.
Kraft has been excellent so far this season, compiling eight catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns across the first two games, but it remains to be seen what kind of usage he'll actually see come game time on Sunday. Due to the injury and a matchup against a strong Cleveland defense, managers will have a decision to make about starting Kraft or another tight end.
Kyle Pitts Sr., Atlanta Falcons
After missing Wednesday's practice and participating in a limited capacity on Thursday, Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (toe) logged a full practice on Friday and is off the injury report ahead of a Week 3 divisional clash with the Carolina Panthers. Pitts' 11 receptions through two weeks are tied for the team lead with wide receiver Drake London.
In Carolina, Pitts faces the league's 31st-ranked defense against tight ends, a position they've struggled mightily to defend over the past year-plus, making him a viable starter at a position that many fantasy managers will spend the season streaming.
However, given the Panthers' similar struggles against the running game, don't be surprised to see another heavy dose of Bijan Robinson, while the bulk of the team's passing work could go to London, as the team attempts to get him over the early-season hump he's faced.
